Rew when you coming up here next? Anytime you want just let me know. Im trying a place that i havent lamped for about 3 months, last time it wasnt bad mate. Its hot so no one lamps it anymore so you get the odd squatter, worth a try.

Well i went only got 3 runs, 2 on hare and 1 on rabbit. The marksman missed the 2 hares as they were well over 100 yards away and the dog put the 1 rabbit in the bag. Not the best night but i enjoyed myself so it was worth while. Anyway i got these pics when i got in, mainly to show the game carrier i knocked up earlier.

rew,

the Lucas lamp only goes about about 30 -40 yrds and as for batt life

well, it feels like hours when you carrying it

the lamp that i have shown i got from an 'Ol boy who taught me a lot and

has now sadly passed on

I was the one carrying the batt and lamp he had the dog  and the fun.

this was in the early eighties.

I know for a fact he was lamping around Bedfordshire in the middle to late

sixties from other people i have met.

i still use the lamp sometimes for a laugh but now with a smaller sealed lead type batt

hope this helps

what juckler said about the army, i think it was on whiteway estate near exeter, the marines used to play at night, the gamekeeper back then got them using nv to look out for poachers, one night they spotted a person so they snuck up on him and pounced, poor fu...[bANNED TEXT] nearly shit his pants and came close to having a coronary, he was the shepherd checking on his animals. :icon_redface:

anybody remember the gimmicky stuff of the eighties like the blue eye and the clear eye.

i would like to know when lamping with lurchers first started was it the 1960s or 70s or even earlier and what was the amount of rabbits taken in one night or even in one season by one or more lurchers in these early days. was it alot easier then or was it the same as it is today.did most lampers then use home made lamping kits (headlight and motor bike battery even car battery :icon_redface::no: or were there proffesional outfits similar to todays kits.what was the main lurcher used back then or was the dogs used as varied as they are today .it would be very interesting to hear from guys who were lamping from when it all started and from guys who started later how you think lamping and the lurcher has changed for better or worse.

there is a lot of experianced lampers /hunters out there so please put youre writing caps on and intrigue us all .

good hunting
