I'm a member of some other forums on this internet buisness, and you can sort of read between the lines in most of them. Now 1 thing I've noticed is this. There's loads of guys/girls out there who seem to be experts on lines and types, breeding, digging and anything else terrier related but how many people on these forums actually get out there week after week and genuinely work their dogs?? It's great to sit and type "Great looking dogs" or "Like the head on that one" and one of the favorite ones is "How does it work?" I know these are disscussion forums but I could goto the different forums I read and gather enough info on lines and breeders in an evening to become an expert, and it's the same old debates over and over and the same lads that seem to be donating true threads on working their dogs on a regular basis. What I'm saying or asking rather is for all you guys and gals out there to go work your dogs and share your experiences with us and give us something worthwhile to read instead of the same old same old blah, blah, blah show shite, show shite, we all know who breeds shite but tell us some stories about those that don't? C'mon people lets have a few positive threads for a change?

lads im no super terrierman and have plenty to learn but im out every saturday with the terriers and lurcher checking holes and theres many a week i check holes all day to find feck all at home but its nice when you get a fox at home to let your terrier do what it was bred to do and get a few pics and get a wee write up on here about the days hunting , but i understand where your coming from eamon,

well it's the same for me except my day is sunday, when i hit you see the pics.

If you have a blanker tell us, if you kill a rat tell us, if your dog runs a dead earth tell us, at least it's better than reading about whose breedings shite week in week out. And for all those who have posted meaningful threads with something different to read thankyou and long may it continue.Fight the ban and work your dogs, lets have some continuity.JMHO. :drink:

I know what you mean Eamon............I'm going out with whitewarrior on the weekend & I'm sure from what I have seen He does as much as anyone about.........Its his job...!!!!.............I'll let you know how we go...... ;)

get out when i can.started going out with winkhound off here.it is his job to work his terriers so i am finding it very enjoyable.bit different to just going for a dig on a sunday.

Thats it mouse..............Some of these lads can work there dogs 5-6 times a week !!!...........What a great life...........beats getting out twice if your lucky but I suppose it beats not getting out at all............. ;)

Spot on Taff mate......

Eamon........I think a lot of lads who are really doing the business like to keep theselves very low key mate..............no pont in attracting attention to yourself.......now days, everyone should allways think twice mate ;)

All the best,

my dogs works for me every single day, i work on a farm and we get up in the morning have a cuppa and leave for the farm(im a single if you aint guess,d :icon_redface: ).Every day he checks the rat runs rabbit runs and the old big holes around the place. He does,nt get a kill every day but that dont stop him checking and hunting. He`ll have an afternoon snooze in the landy sometimes nearly all day he,ll be in there! but he hunts at somestage(with me not on his own) everyday. At the weekend we go out with the shotgun by day and at night sometimes we take a rifle,He doesnt just work underground for me, he works anywhere i need him too.I have`nt always got my camera on me but am trying to remember it for those exiting times we have together, but when its just one man and the terrier its sometimes tricky to get snaps.

i have read many really goood threads on here so maybe i should make more effort to share my expiriences with you. :clapper:http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g35/mussells/000_0551.jpg

Understood JOEB. It's easier for us lads accross the puddle, it is a pain in the arse though reading the SSDD stuff. We don't need pics just a quick account of a day out would be nice you know what I mean. If they can take the time to sit behind their keyboard to slate other peoples posts and dogs (I don't mean everyone I know lads post on other forums) then 5 minutes for a quick tale about their day would'nt be hard. JMO. Happy hunting lads hard frost here I'm off out. :victory:

here's a couple of pics from yesterdays game bird protection :) , we had 3 nice easy digs ;) .

p.s the lurcher was only used for marking earths, but we allowed him to have a rag after the quarry had been dispatched

Eamon part of the prob is the posts being edited, you spend time writing the post and uploading the pics and away they go only to be taken down an hour later I know moderating this cant be easy but it don't half p*ss you off... or some keyboard hunter tearing it to bits

As I say we don't need pics I think it's easy to know by a quick description who is and who is'nt. There is loads of genuine guys on here who for those reasons you've stated Leon don't post especialy those ripping threads to bits and it's mostly these guys that are'nt out there. There's a major element of people on here IMO that are purely show enthusiasts and are ignorant to the true rigors of the hard facts of the terrier world i.e something gets killed when digging, dogs get marked, culling takes place the list could go on. I thank all of you who have responded honnestly to this thread, and to all of those who show their dogs fairplay but please don't knock the guys that are out in the fields working their terriers and keeping the working abilities and instinct that has been there for hundreds of years alive and well in our beloved dogs. Happy hunting lads.
