ferreting a dike

Recommended Posts

hi , i was just walking my dog a few hours ago and just about ten minutes away from my house a little small field beside a little country road .So i look over the gate and i see rabbits everywere beside a little small hedge so i go into farmers house and ask can i go ferreting in the fields and he says yes.So off i went into the field to have a look at the land .I walked over to the little hedge i saw erlier it was full of fresh burrows , so i was planning on ferreting it next saturday but the only problem is that the hedge is nice and tidy on 1 side but the other side has a little dip in front of the hedge , its kinda like a dike .I own a 50 yard long net and 20 purse nets but i dont know what type of nets to use on the side with the dip in front of it :hmm:

great if any 1 can help :D

Short of making 2x25yds nets out of your 50yds net, I'd put your net in a U shape round one end of the hedge and work the ferrets towards it from the opposite end  it would be a big help if there was at least someone to help you and the dog would be of use also on the clean side

Good Luck

you really want a stop nets or gate nets, you might be able to make do,make sure you have plenty of poles,or try and peg bottom cord down best ye can, otherwise purse net bits at a time,ye prob find rabbits will move up ahead of you,so make sure you have the last section well covered atb jamiew
