billysboots 1 Posted February 6, 2011 Author Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 billysboots how do you know its the cruicate ligament pal atb mooney vet diagnosed it mate ,bitch aint put no weight on it for 3 weeks now was told it was muscle at first,but they useually ease off after a few weeks ,am tottaly gutted got second opinion and looked it up on the net,had dogs put shoulders out on heavy ground before but nothing this bad , think she got leg stuck in mud,then twisted out of turn and foot stayed in mud ,bit like a footballers studs gettin stuck and the knee twisting, bitch hollerd out but still kept runnin but came back lame on back leg and aint got much better since, will wait afew days an decide wat to do,bitch is well bred out of benji and nuttall bred bitch, hardly missed a thing up till christmas ,might breed dont kmow yet, heavy goin can be worse than hard ground on some dogs with fast aggresive runnin style like this bitch was.all the best bill Quote Link to post
Shazza 52 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 If she's a very good bitch who has proved herself & you want to keep her line & she's the right age & can take retirement afterwards (a lot of if's) you might weigh everything up and decide to do the op, retire her but breed a litter to keep something to replace her.......... just an idea if you think that much of her. MOUSE TRAP 19 Posted February 6, 2011 Report Share Posted February 6, 2011 just been told by vet that my coursing bitcth has a torn cruicate ligament,suffererd while running on the very heavy ground ie very soft bottomless ground,been quote £800 for basic op and £1500 for the op they recomend for a dog this size ,and that bitch will not course again even if op goes well, anyone on here had this op done on any running dogs and anyone know anything about this type of injurey . is this just a knee injury or can they get it else where ie. wrist Quote Link to post
