Rake aboot 4,935
Was at Armadale on Sat and don`t recall seeing xenon lamps. I got my Lightforce from there though One of my dive lamps is xenon and I sometimes take it lamping with me as an aux light, Nice bright light from it .The color temp is low so its a harsh light that ,to me, works better underwater than on land, I find that identifying stuff at the edge of the beam is harder than with my Striker. Color is easier to determine with the warmer light, xeneon kind of makes everything look the same color. My mate used an LED gunlamp and I find the same with this. Great for closer work but not as good as the warmer light from a standard lamp.. Battery use is brilliant, Lasts for ages. ATB Quote Link to post

kev2010 8
sorry to diverse guys, i saw an led gun lamp with an advertised range of 300m advertised and wondered if theyd be any good for our lamping and is there any way of converting or comparing lumen with candlepower ta muchly Hi mate, you can't really convert lumens & candlepower as they are a mesurement of two different things. Lumens is the mesurement of total light output. Candlepower is the mesurement of light on a given spot at a given distance,if you see what i mean. Some of the LED gun lights can be very good.Ive been using an LED torch for About two years which will give about 400m range with a tight spot. The problem with them is,most of the LED's are a very blue light which is no good in the feild.Really hard to make things out.You need one with a warm tint/colour temp.Which is why i picked the one i use as you can choose different LED modules. Each one giving different output, throw, colour tint, size spot. You can also fit a remote pressure switch & scope mount if you want. The other things with LED's is they don't work as well with the red fiters & the bunnys eyes don't reflect back red. Hope this answers your question. Thanks,Kev. Quote Link to post
