A friend has just contacted me to see about the best way of dealing with a Mink that has set up camp in his neighbours garden, he says it's eating all the fish and frogs from the pond. As I don't know what the laws are regarding them? Can anyone on here shed some light as to the best method?

Cheers

Safest way is to cage trap it then humanely dispatch it. The law says you musn't release it once it is captured but you have a duty of care to the animal whislt it is under your control.

Cheers, I thought that would be the best solution but I wasn't sure on the laws of it all

Im sure he will have to trap or shoot it as it is not allowed to hunt them with dogs.

when did he mention dogs??? but yes trapping or sitting out with an air rifle would be your only option

What idiot would use a dog to kill a mink? i would love to see the chunk that it takes out of the dogs nose. shooting or trapping is fine.

dont see a mink posing as much threat as a fox , think most worked terriers would deal with them.

true mate it would take a very hard dog out of the gamest lines bred to kill a mink :victory: very dangerous animals and best left well alone  let the big boys sort them with there guns :gunsmilie:

haha, I just mean its unecassary to use a dog when you can use a gun or trap and it would be a bit like letting your dog take a ferret in relation to having a chunk out of their nose as unlike a fox it will hold on and not let go.
