hunter1989 91
hi hunters as you no e and Ste went out last night in 25mph winds we left mine at around 9.30 and arrived at the permission around 9.45 after setting the rifle up and warm clothes we went of into the night and started walking the hot spot areas not much at but was enough to get a good few shots of. i spotted one at 50 yards as i was going to risk injuring the rabbit in the wind i decided to stalk and go within around 20 yards gave a little elevation and a nice peace of lead made its mark after a cuppa and fag i headed back down the same spot and spotted a sitter at 15 yds and another lead made its mark. they did not want to come and play for Ste tonight but I'm sure they will soon here the pics the first at around 20 yards 2nd 15 yards s400 with the prizes dogs brecky atb steve 3 Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Nice shooting Steve, Its always good when you reep the rewards for you efforts. I think that you were lucky to hit the rabbit so well at 20 yards giving a little elevation buddy when in reality you should of really been giving it maybe 1/4 or less of a mid dot hold under at 20 yards pal in .177 in terms of true balistics. Never mind though you obviously made the right choice and bagged him. Well done buddy SPA for getting out in the wind and bagging up. Next time will be your time Ste buddy. Ill see you on Sunday at the HFT. Si. Edited February 4, 2011 by zini Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Here Steve pal. Just a quick diagram (not to exact scale) which will explain where the 20 yard point is along your trajectory buddy. You will see that you need to apply a depression not elevation pal. Hope it helps in the future. Si Edited February 4, 2011 by zini Quote Link to post

rossi_j 99
I have nothing to say with regards to last nites shooting other than well done steve and grrrrrrr! I use no hold under at all, my scopes are zero'd at 29yds, the output is 10.7 ft lb, the zero is near the top of the trajectory curve, anything from 20yds to 35yds is near enough on the cross hairs, less than 20yds I start holding over and greater than 35yds I start holding over again, exaple 50yds 2md hold over, 15yds .5 md hold over. Does that make any sense to anyone or am I mad. I havent properly calibrated it but from bits of target shooting I have done thats what I am getting roughly. Any advice welcome. .atb. .ste.
