Out with the Borders and russells

Recommended Posts

Its been bitterly cold here the last couple of weeks , yesterdays low with the wind chill was -23, not conducive to doing anything !!! i tried the other day to have a scout about to see if there was any active earths but all i suceeded in doing was getting the quad stuck up to the tits in snow !!!! I was starting to get Cabin fever, so i decided to take a trip out to a local horse farm that has a couple of places that usually holds coons, so i loaded up the terriers and lurchers and headed out,

we arrived and checked out a small hay barn but nothing doing, so we moved quickly onto the indoor riding arena thats quarter full with round bales of Hemp stacked 3 bales high, i've had coons out of here on quite a few occations so was quite hopefull i loused a couple of terriers one on one side and another terrier the other side, its the most realistic and efficiant way to work through such a big area , it took about 10 minutes for the young border dog to find, he was giving the coon hell for about 30 mins finally pushing it backwards into the path of my young Lurcher Mick, it was all over bar the singing then , the other young Border bitch came over to give a helping hand and had a good rag as well

i put the Borders away and give the Russells a run through the same place but no-one else was home, which was a shame, the last time we had three out of the same place, never mind, we got out and i'm bit less crazy

Here's a pick of a couple of my Russells , there my own breeding but go back to a Fella called Alan Baulch from the south west , he used to be out terrierman for the pack of hounds i worked for, he bred some very smart dogs that grafted as well as they looked,

mine arent that pretty but they do the job for me post-45474-0-81131200-1297088940_thumb.jpg
