my 6 month old pup has developed a limp. he was running around playing when he started limping, i thought nothing of it because the next day he was fine, started playing again and the limp came back. i restricted him to walks on the lead for 10 days i let him off today and with in a minute the limp came back....im going to stick him in the porta-mag now but any other ideas would be appreciated

might be a daft question but have you checked the foot properly as i once had this happen to mine and it turned out to be a half inch thorn about the thickness of a needle which didnt bother her after resting then as soon as she ran started to hurt again cost me 150 quid to get it cut out at the vets :hmm:

Are you sure it's his wrist baz,not a shoulder or one of his toes?

Is there any swelling in the wrist? If there is stand the wrist in a bucket of cold water for 10minutes

2-3 times a day untill the swelling goes down.

The portamag is handy, mine is on every day.

Is it a front leg or a hind leg? Check the knee joint (stifle) if its a hind leg, and the wrist if its a front leg.Can you feel if there is any heat in the leg anywhere: compare it to the other leg!

It is definitely worth getting to a greyhound vet if its not getting any better after a fortnight on the lead. Pups can sometimes crack bones, without displacing them, which would only show up under x-ray, and you keep the dog on a lead for a week then think its OK, and the minute they run again it hurts, but more to the point it sets the healing back to square one.
