SeanTheHawker 0
headed out this morning with my dad, was great conditions and looked like we were in for a real good day. anyway, the first flight was a brilliant one, beat a bundle of branches and a rbabit bolted downhill, rolf hit at the bottom, but didnt hold, then got back on terms with it as it ran up a ditch, hit it again just as it got through sheep fenching unlucky, but great flight. then headed to the bottom of the field and walking down a heard a big, ARGH. looked back and seen my da lying on his arse, thought he was ok, but he couldnt move, he had slipped and the ferret box dug into his back. thought he had broke his back. about 10 minutes later he was up, but struggling, he didnt wanna go back to the car, so i walked the thrushes at the bottom of the field, nothing. then a lovley ground set on another hill, bolted one, rolf chased for 30 yards before htiting it, held it a while, then kicked off. got up and clipped it again just as it was getting to the hole. waited it out a while, then went to search for the ferert, but as i started digging he came out. my da then said hes gonna head back to the car , but i should hunt on till i kill and kill and just end ut at that. fair enough then. i went up over the hill and seen about 4 rabbits break to cover in a field across the stream, 2 fenches and a big bloody bit of cover lol. thankfully they were to far for him to try it on. as i headed down the brough of the hill, about 6 woodpigeons got up, i slipped rolf anyway, but they were up and away almost be fore he left the fist. but he kept flying, the i spotted it, a rbabit sitting about 20 feet from that big bit of cover. as it was going in, rolf got it. i ran like hell, got it, reached for the rabbit, and it had another burst of energy, took rolf a further 10 feet in. at this stage i had to put the ferrets and spade down, and climb through the bushes. eventully got him, to dispatch it, big bloody rabbit it was too. after a decent feed headed back. got home and took da to hospital, turns out hes cracked 2 ribs and should rest for a few days, tho he aint gonna  due to work at the moment. tho i think he will change his mind tomorrow morning lol. so all in all, a quick hunt, and a shit way to end the weekend, pleased with the hunting, but its hard enough to get my da out for a spot of hawking, and will be ever worse trying to convince him now lol Quote Link to post
