bsa ultra reg or tench

Recommended Posts

hi ya buddy

the tench reg'd ultras are done by simon on the bsa forum it is his own thing and trust me they are the dog's dangles buddy you can pick up a reg'd ultra 177 on the bsa forum for £380.00 all in thats tac stock silencer and scope the lot all in the reg it's self cost around the £100.00 to £130.00 alone so take that away from the ultra you are getting a bargin which ever way you look at it buddy if you register on there and read the write ups about the reg's that tench does you will be more than happy to carry on forward to getting the reg'd ultra / scorpion / hornet / r10 / most bsa matey

i have the hornet and ultra plus the scorpion as well and they are all reg'd by tench and all run very well indeed matey plus from a standard ultra at 40 shot to a fill to 100 shot to a fill a big difference in shot count / consitant / power.

i hope this helps matey

Hi RS1.

It might even be worth contacting the man himself ( Simon ) 07792073470.

He often has rifles for sale himself, all regd and fettled.

Great guy to talk to and very helpfull.

I know he has a LOT of work on at the moment, so be patient trying to get hold of him if you do decide to ring him.

if any one could get the ultra to go from 40 to 100 shots it would be john bowkett, the guy who made them not tench,i find that you get 100 fu power shots very hard to believe indeed.

Dont get cought up in the hyp,if you want exxtra shots buy a scorpion new and only let bsa work on it as they made them and fix them for free, only other person I would trust is john bowkett the guy who made them.dont waste your money on a reged ultra go for a t10 instead or a dedicated regged rifle.

youl find gaystate mk3s for the price of a used regged utra.

Dont listen to the hype, why you think theres so many for sale?if they were that good surely after forking out £500 new you would not sel it and look what you can get for £400-500 before you even consider a ultra.

Anoth thing, the hornet and ultra multi are a waste as the single shots are quicker to load.

I would highly recommend you to get a scorpion if multi shots what you want as it has a bolt and send it john bowkett for a hornet reg and blue print rather then tench a ultra (trust me on this).

I have nothing against the guy,his very nice and smart but a bit of porkies going on with some of the results, consistency is not what you would get from other regged rifles and that about 100 shots out the standard utra with a reg is tota rubbish, may be if he does what john bowkett does and puts a scorpion cylinder on but no chance as standard cylinder.what the point in buying a utra and putting a scorpion cyliner on when you can just buy a scorpion?and cheaper.

Theres a reason the scorpion took over the hornet, its not reguated ike the hornet but its self regulater is just as consistent.

Ask john if he would recommend a blue print on a scorpion and I bet he says its pointless as you cant get them much better.Adding the hornet reg gives more shots.as for consistency it dont need a reg, thats why it took over the hornet.

Ask simon the same question and I bet he wont try not to sel you one.

Ive owned many of these Beezas in about every mod you can get and the ultra was my biggest and expensivest mistake yet,if you do get one, leave it alone.

I mean ask your self this, why do you need a reg?you shooting big ft events?if so you shoudnt even be looking at the ultra and if you were youd know to find its sweet spot and chrono it till you know the power curves.

I seen many mistakes on tenchs performance results,a regged rifle should main tain less then 10fps spread thew its full power shot ration, the scorpio does this and its not regged.

Do some research before diving in to peoples hype is my advice.

ps sorry about spelling mistakes.my keyboards knackered.

I think all this Tuned and reg'd stuff is a total waste of time, as far as im aware my S10 is factory standard and it gives me 140/150 shots and i can hit a 5p at 40 yards all day long with it, i think people go overboard and forget that an air rifle is just an air rifle, sorry but i personally dont believe in spending 100s of pounds for all this tuning malarky, Ill admit i dont know the first thing about hammers and shrouds and regulators, but i do know that my standard Bsa S10 matches any rifle ive ever shot against. If its not broke then dont fix it, if your not going to be happy with a rifle that you get 40/50 shots from per charge............dont buy it and get something else...........surely its that simple???

This post isnt in reply to any particular reply on here its just my opinion, i know it wasnt asked for but im nosey :tongue2:

atb boys and try not to let this debate get to heated :thumbs:

Hi Head Shot.

Your post has sort of taken me back a bit :icon_eek: ?

I own a .22 Ultra Multi shot that TENCH has tuned , regd, and fetlled for me.

I am totaly amazed at what he has achieved with the rifle, using his knowlage, skill, and many years of experience working on PCPs, and the development of his regs.

This guy has earnt his reputation as a top PCP tuner, its not hype as you say, but fact......the man knows his stuff.

All respect to Mr Bowkett too.

Simon has also regd, fettled and tuned my AAs200 for me, again, the results are absolutly brilliant.

I shoot comfortably knowing I have done all that is possible to achieve , consistancy, accuracy, and install confidence in my rifles., and how they perform.

An Example of my BSA Ultra TENCH regd and fettled 30 shot string from a 200 bar fill using

AA Fields .22 5.52s.

Theres nothing hype about these readings, its testiment to Tenches knowlage and skill.

If you doubt what I have posted, I openly invite you to come and shoot my rifles for yourself over the chrono, cant be fairer than that.

To come on here spouting the rubbish you have posted is out of order, not warranted, and bang out of order.

Do you own a TENCHED regd rifle......I doubt it.

This man has invested years in experimentation, and perfection, building a reputation, and gaining the respect of the air gunning world.

He is such a valuable asset to any shooter that wants the best from their rifles performance, and is prepared to go the extra mile to achieve it.

If however you are satisfied with the performance of a standard rifle, thats your choice.

Many shooters invest time, money, and development in thier kit, not just for FT or HFT but for hunting too.

SO......dont slate the man, he does not deserve it.

If you doubt the claims of consistancy, you have my open invitation to see for yourself.

I think you are way off track, and out of order Head Shot.

Head shot Im afraid that you are wrong on this subject buddy  .

I had a tenched regged .177 Ultra only 5 months ago and it produced 90 full power shots in .177. I could hit toothpaste lids at 51 lased metres easily and i even hit a car dust cap at a lased 55 metres no problems.

The rifle is very accurate and shoots great.

Regarding loading, after 15 mins of shooting it you can load it much faster than any springer.

I aggree with Bill both him and Mr Bowkett are very good at what they do.

Dont discount Tench who by the way is a really nice chap to deal with until you have seen and used his work mate.

I was that impressed with his work i went back and had my r10 tuned and my reg tweeked by him.

About 4 months ago (witnessed by andy&archie) i shot 2 magpies and a crow in quick succession out the same tree with my tench tuned r10 at 64 or 67 yards.
