dave1372 83
Ok here goes English Romany gypsy originally came from India/eygpt region Irish travellers are gorges that were made homeless during cromwells Campaign in the 1840 Under Irish law the Irish traveller is not recognised as an ethnic group but only as social group Meaning they travel by choice or circumstance Whereas English Romany gypsy is by blood there is no choice same as being of the Jewish race it's something your Born into not a " lifestyle" choice Hope this clears things Whilst we are differentiating the different types of travellers can you help answer these questions for us : Where do tinkers fit into the equation or is that just general slang? What is a travellers description of a p i k e y or is that just slang too? .....not taking the piss but how many travellers actually get a P60 each year? SHOTTGUNKELLY 11
Tinker comes from tin smiths who made pots and pans p***y is not used by us it's a racist term same as nigger Recent research said that 83% of Romany gypsy are in employment And paying taxes, basically if they are settled they are in the system and alot of those that still travel ( very few) are also
Terra Firma 136
The word 'p***y' comes from that Latin name for a magpie 'pica pica' and was coined in Victorian times.... Apparently. Recently there were a group of irish tinkers that went on a robbing spree through southern England, mainly in the Kent area specifically targeting Romany/English gypsies, because the know that the tend not to trust banks, the general feel amongst the English travelers that I know is that they hate the Irish timkers
Leewx 2
Travelers good. Tinkers bad. Like what said about black people and ni***rs.
Strong Stuff 2,171
Be interested to know how long it took the travellers to clean up after themselves when they were leaving Appleby .............. Surely such a clean, respectable, much misunderstood group would take every step to ensure they left the place as they found it?
