Guest whitser
i was watching a programme on animal planet about snow dogs and it got me thinking. has anyone ever used a huskie type dog to breed a lurcher. these dogs have some stamina and drive. suppose you'd have to use working strains to breed with, dont imagine theres too many working huskies round my way. I don't know if you've noticed but a lot of the lads in the UK that run their huskies have cross bred them with trail hounds, just as much stamina and less chance of overheating[heatstroke] in the British climate. Has anyone ever used trail hounds to breed lurchers as I think this might be a better proposition. Quote Link to post
Meerihunter 7
I've seen a huskyXsaluki/greyhound coursing hares but it was big (28")heavy clumsy beast. Not sure if any use stood out to me. My Parents have a Siberian Husky and it has a huge prey drive and very clever (like all primative breeds) making training/handling diffucult, like Saluki's (another primative breed) you can't afford to make too many mistake's, serious mind games involved. He was a serious fox killer before a year old and will deer like a hound giving the chance. What possible need is there for this type of lurcher? Quote Link to post
