Not many of this line turn out any good, and it is reputed show stock with generations of rosette dogs as opposed to ground dogs, depends what you term as work I suppose.

lads who dig seriously wouldn't consider anything with stobbart blood running through its veins

Good and bad in ALL lines only speaking as I find.Ok my bitch isnt all the line asked about just got some of that blood.Mine will not give an inch kills the red uns . To have a good digging terrier doesnt mean they gotta be ugly feckers either.Go back as long as you like and all the old famous terriers of years ago especially the old type pats fells whatever were all shown. Most of the old pics show the old fell pack huntsmen at the shows .Like I said the bitch is not a pure line that was asked about but she suits me.Lately it seems that anyone who shows a dog then his dogs get branded as show stuff that dont do it .IMO a loada B**locks.Shows are for fun and a way of catching up with old mates nothing more :D YIS

sorry mate but i have to disagree with you, my black dog thats half stobart bred is absolutely spot on! i'd have faith in him in the most testing of buries, he's been there done that and proven himself, i've been digging to him for the past 2 1/2 years( 18 months old when i got him ) and had well over 100 head of game with him. he might be an exception?? just my personal experience of this breeding :D

There are exceptions to every rule of course, half bred dogs will I'm sure work to a good standard but whats to say they didn't get the heart from the REAL worker and the Looks from the Stobbart side ;)
