lampingboy 208
hi lads, been out the past few nights and only had one,had a brilliant stalk last night though and feel like im learning alot.Tonight i wasnt going to go out and just give the land a rest but my dad came in and let me know there was about 4-5 bugs sitting in our field next to our house so i thought it was worth a try. i walked out of my door and walked accross the chippings and opened the gate as normal not even trying to be quiet shon the lamp into the field and there they were.About 4 sitters i lined up the crosshairs and wack! then a squeel and realized i hadnt got a KZ shot but quickly reloaded and dispatched the quarry,NO MAN likes to see his quarry injured .life is a lesson but your quarry shouldnt be! but i think ive put it down to the gun being at around 110bar and im also going to check my zero as i want to be sure of a kz shot in future.Amazingly only 2 bugs ran off and there was 1 sitting well within range, but with doubt of a KZ shot in my mind,i let him go. I retrieved my quarry ,came back in. All in all ,im a bit dissapointed with myself, but its a lesson learned sooner rather than later so from that aspect its a bit better. Also my lurcher Gyp enjoyed a tasty tea in this bitter weather. cheers for reading lads, Brad. 3 Quote Link to post

davyt63 1,845
hi brad lesson learnt there buddy, always check your zero & what bar your at before taking live quarry fair play on dispatching quickly, what pellets were you using? dont let it get ya down buddy,we all have a bad day once in a while regards Davy Quote Link to post
rossi_j 99
Hey buddy, as davy said allways check your zero and top up air before shooting, as you said tho mate lesson learnt. One of the first rabbits I ever shot lurched forward as I took the shot, the shot landed in the shoulder he went down screaching, unable to get a clean second shot off I ran over as quick as my leggs would carry me to streach him out, it nearly put me off shooting rabbits. You acted responsibly by stopping there and going back Well done on a quick follow up shot, those are very hard to pull of with time pressure and a panicking target. Good luck on the permission with aaron, between you two you are a responsible pair of shooters, you will do well together Im sure aaron will teach you a thing or two also as he knows his stuff, I look forward to hearing how you two get on. .atb. .ste.
