rather have a bandog =pit x neo or bullmastiff x pit, more healthy dog. The old type bullmastiff is like some ban dogs of today  . Had bullmastiffs very unhealthy dogs, thats why i came out of the breed, .The Alano Espanol dont look a bad dog , supposed to be healthy as well, but i think most big breeds suffer with HD, and not long lived. If i wanted a good guard go for good GSD or good Rottie

How about replacing the word " naughty " with the word " different "......

From what im told a good German Shepherd or Rott are as good as it gets.......but i guess folk fall for the grass is always greener mentality....and of course the fashion factor comes into play with most " big nasty dog owners "....and German Shepherd/Rotts are just not fashionable enough these days.

im no expert but i can tell you shepards are the best dog for chasing 1 person down and holding them until back up gets there, also they fit nicely in a vehicle, rottweilers are as easy going a sentry dog as you'll find and both mature quickly a couple of years at most for a Shepard maybe more for a rotty.

neither of those breeds are bred to be able to defend from more than 1 attacker, shepards especially are not often very 'hard', real time ive seen a couple of good ones jib because they werent having it their way.

just out of interest what would your choice be if there was more then one attacker? I think a good quality rottweiler would be able to rise to the challange. i to have seen gsd's back off when at football and the lads have a go back at the police the dogs will get the odd kick to the mouth and they all seem to back off. Would be funny seeing the old bill turn up with presa canarios, boerboels,CO's and bandog's though.
