Harris's first Phessie

Finally and at last my young female harris has turned her attentions towards feather. She really is a strange bird this one. It took me over two months to get her turned onto rabbits. She would hit the lure or carcasses all day long and then sit there and watch the real ones walk past her. I have flown harris's for nearly 15 years and never seen her like. Any way walking back to the car today and my terrier marks a phessie in brambles. I say marks but it was more like a point. His tail was erect and he even had a paw lifted and was standing stock still. In he goes and a hen come busting out. My bird is off like a rocket and only just misses. She tail chased for a bit and then circled back round to a tree. We work the cover and then a cock bird comes out. Down comes the Harris and bang nails it. It was giving her a bit of a fight when my mates terrier goes in a grabs it. Dog stayed well clear of the Harris and the bird didn't mind the dog helping her. Final day of trying for one and she actually wakes up - amazing. Sure put a smile on my face.

regards, Ian

cheers. I hope for more next season. She now appears mad for feather. She came of a pylon today after pigeon flying past. Finally tracked her down half a mile away under a fishing platform. Apparently she had gone for a duck in the middle of a lake and then swum ashore. She is a strange bird, takes her ages to click onto new quarry but once she does she goes mad.

Can't fault them Bullet! had this pair since 2007 now and the lad also uses them for going beating. must admit they're looking a bit worse for wear but best wellies I have had and warm in the winter, even the missus now has a pair after ditching her Hunter wellies .
