whin 463
all dogs go at diffrent times no hard and fast rule had a dog luke 11 12 months he would face lion same with his pup ,had others 2 years on a fox ,its no big deal theyll either get there or not once the realise the bites not bad they soon fire in entred saluks collie crosses greyhounds yet to see one totaly saying feck it but some done it in ther own time as localy i only see a dozen a year and not all catchable at times pre ban Quote Link to post
Catcher 1 639
Pre ban I think it was a big deal.Entering a pup to young. If it came off the worse.Could knock it back six month or ruin it all together. Most dogs are only to eager to have a go. Quote Link to post
lamping lurchers 34
i have only just got the dog it was the previous owner who entered it early, and i would still be happy with him if me made a good rabbiting dog Quote Link to post

scottyboyish 14
just got a dog and the kid i got it off tried it doubled up at 12 months on a red and it was bit and it jacked, it aint looked at em since, the dog is now 14/15 months old and is catching daytime rabbits, would he ever do red again in the future or will he drop his arse again because of his previous experience of beimg entered too early Not having ago mate but what do you expect at 12 month.WE read this kind of thing every week.People entering dogs far to young. Why cant they wait put in the time and do it properly. Most times the end result turns out better. What he said. At 12 months old it's still a pup. Wait until it's nearer 2yrs old so it's balls have fully dropped Quote Link to post

collie/grey 238
At 12 months old i would expect the dog to either go for it or jib, they either will or won't, why wait til it is 2 years old ffs, most dogs are adults at 12 month old, the latest i would hold out is 18 month old for a large bred dog. Dogs that are bred from late starters produce late starters in my eyes, if they jib they jib they obviously aint going to be a regular single handed dog. Just my personal opinion but each to their own, if your happy with the dog regardless then who cares if it takes red coats or not. Quote Link to post
