I usually work my two young lurchers together

 

Although when i do take one on its own the dog is much more in tune to what is needed.

one is enough even if they know each other you will still get jealousy. which usually ends up in a crunched rabbit

mostly used 1 dog. but had a terrier great for bushing out for a lurcher. when the lurcher caught the little jack didnt try to grab the lurchers catch he just moved away and let the lurcher retrieve. no training from me to stop the terrier interfering with the catch he just did this naturaly.

All very well saying '1 is enough' but it depends on the kind of land and cover you work. We really need at least two to put enough pressure on some of the rabs to put them to ground and to hunt up well.

I take 2 jrt and lurcher but strollers right the terrier is especially jealous and far too hard mouthed, but she marks well, catches hole hoppers and pushes most out of the hedge into the long nets so she's useful as long as you get the rabbit off her quick

plus my missus couldn't handle the whining if i left one home, as soon as the coat and boots are on they know

For ferreting i just take my lurcher but if im going out with my mate he brings his as well ,bushing id use three dogs but weve done it with up to eleven

2 well schooled lurchers that no each other dog and bitch can work well but not to head strong younger dogs to much competition no good ,
