StevoSmith 147
Hey guys well me and tus went back to the caravan park again last night....if i'm honest we have now been there 3 times and every time we have been the weather has been against us(no excuse)....the first 2 nights it was bright with the moon and deadly still......last night was slightly diff but without the brightness of the moon. We arrived at about 7-7.30pm and it was already about -5....ok this is not normaly enough to stop bugs hitting the lawns but the temp just kept dropping very quickly.....put it this way guys it was about -10-13 buy the time we left at 2.15am. I did not invite the neighbour to do the lamping as he spent most of the night on the effin phone on wed's.So i invited a young lad(15 years old) from up the road who goes beating and enjoys shooting sports so the oppurtunity for him was greatfully recieved.....I was using my mates Theoben Rapid12 so i let him use my TX. The night got off to a great start with Jordan(young lad) hitting the mark at 20 yds with my trusty TX with a clean KZ shot.Tus was driving the next shot came to me and 15yd bugs sat still under the red filter lamp.....i ligned up with the Theoben Rapid12 pulled the trigger only to see the rabbit leg it off under the nearest caravan....i put this down to my not being used to the pcp as some of you know im a springer guy.Any way again we had another pigeon who fell to jordan with my TX. Few more time round caravan site before we seen another bunny due to the servre cold we think......again the shot fell to me with the Theoben he was no more than 10-12yds and ligned up with a slight hold under perfectly......pulled the trigger and the 16gr jsb hit the mark only for me to see the rabbit stunned.....we do not like to wound our quarry and prefer a quick humane kill......i responded quickly and grabbed hold of my TX from jordan and finnished the job with a THWACK to the KZ.....The Theoben was just not up to the job i reackon not putting out more than about 8-9 ft/lbs.Needless to say it was put straight back into the slip. Tus got out his S410 Carbine and handed it over to me to use and a bugs followed very soon after with a nice clean swift kill without even a twitch....I loved the feel of the Theoben but the S410 was a joy to shoot....A good 30 mins followed before the next bugs showed himself only for Jordan to be to slow to react...no fault of his own just not used to it i suppose and his hands being numb even though i had lent him my shooting gloves but they were to tight. This continued for about an hour with our reactions just being to slow due to the temp...... At this point tus(steve)had not taken a shot and had been doing the driving...i had said i would drive but he said he just enjoyed being out doing something thats an addiction to us all......this soon changed as i was lamping from passenger seat for Jordan.....WOAH i said right there 30-35 yds between the caravans.....Jordan Jordan are you ready i said.....all i got was i carnt see him lol....i said right there mate you dont even need lamp as you can see his siluete against the grass.....tus said here Jordan pass me the rifle....now baring in mind that tus has never shot my rifle and with him being used to a pcp he raised the heavy TX took less than 5 sec's to focus on target and THWACK over went bug's......i ran over only to find the pellet had hit perfectly between the ear and eye right in the KZ and gone clean through.....what a shot from a guy who has never fired my rifle to line up release safety and pull trigger all in about 5-6 seconds and hit perfectly was something to behold......this man can truely shoot thats for certain so big for steve for that. I do not have pics of bunnys but steve was going to do them so he may upload them on this post cheers guys Quote Link to post
