davyt63 1,845
Hi every one Chaz & Paul & I went over to the dairy farm Tuesday evening, in the rain and wind and freezing temperatures. It was a quiet night at the dairy with just a few shots between us, with none of the rats retrieved. Apart from one! Just as we was getting ready to go to the grain store i spotted a rat level with the calf barn, at the end of the track .this is a good sniping spot as Si & andy&archie know to well and will know that it is some distance! Well I had run out of Air Arms Field Plus .22 18 gr, and zeroed earlier with the 16gr I took aim with the AAS410K dressed with PNS 4.6X52 VOMZ Night vision I rested on the gate at the top of the track and squeezed of an AA field THWACK! And done the follow through to see the rat just slump forward! A close up “what a shot” if I don’t mind saying my self! I am guessing the pool of blood to the right! Is where the impact was! And it has moved forward as I walked down to take the photo “tuff little critter’s” Any ways we headed of up to the grain store, and here are some pics of the place! As you open the door this is the sight you see in front of you,the stairs to the right of the pic leads up to the grain hoppers, and the rat hall way can you see the machine to your left, well you have to walk past this to access the stairs, and i have poked my head in to have a look and what did i see a rat looking straight at me"scared the be-Jesus out of me" and here is that macine!! this is the view at the end of the walk way,you can go to the left of these bags,to get to the back of the building.and have some fun,if your not "scared the crap out of" by a rat jumping out on you as you walk down a gap of about two foot and here is that gap!! these are the hoppers where the rats like to run in & out of and eat & poo in them! to the right of the pic you can see a RSJ at the bottom of that is where the rats come through can you see the box trunking in this pic, rats run in it and on top of it,i have seen rats run by me at head height not very nice! Ratsville hallway in this pic at the middle where it gets darker & darker this leads to another row of hoppers,i only go to the small wall at the end of here. we had a mate once who entered pass the wall "never to be seen again" the rats come up from the holes in the board,at the end of the hall way Rat droppings just to show how infested it is!! As you can see its not a lovely place to be when all the lights are off! And you can hear them squealing and communicating with each other. Gives me goose pimples typing it! We had a few here but once again could not get to them! Regards Davy Quote Link to post

ghillies 209
when they start jumping the pellets try bisly long range golds or accupells in .22 (start jumping or you cant figure out why theyre running off after a wacking shot...they stamp and bowl over just before the pellet arives if you look really close..that or finaly leave the safety on and try and shoot, straight up, they bowl over screeming with hell of a thwack! even though the safeties on).
