artic 595
Mmm, very tasty. Black chicken is actually a Silkie bantam, and it's the skin that's only black. Usually given as a medicine meal/drug.

Usually given as a medicine meal/drug. silkies come in large as well as bantam, they arent the only black skinned/black meat breed.... theres an indonesian breed called ayam cemani but they are very rare and highly sought after, im after a pair of them myself... problem is they command prices of 100 plus each

blackdug 90
must be rare as i have a 40 year old asian sitting beside me just now and i asked them ever seen a black chicken and showed them the photo and they said never !!!but reckoned it would not be to hard to stain the meat somehow ,,,,
The one 8,479
Thats what i was thinking its a silkie as when i breed them you couldn't give the surplus cockerals away because of the skin they where only good for ferret food
metallica fish 0
looks like slikies to me, i would try it. dunno why it would taste any different Edited January 30, 2011 by metallica fish
matt_p 0
I never fancied it when I had a few silkies, couldn't stand the thought of it for some reason. I am sure it would taste the same, but not for me I am afraid. The bones of silkies are also supposed to be green, and as arctic said, are used in medicine.
