Why though ask what you think a small whippety dog can do behind a hare when you have a small whippety dog that you could put behind a hare AND ANSWER THE QUESTION FOR YOURSELF BEFORE ASKING IT........... Strange.. Quote Link to post
morton 5,368
Many, many years ago i had a little whippet bitch, decent on rabbits, had a knack with moorhens, used to work it loose so it pushed up an hare or 3,used to try its best but very rarely connected. Quote Link to post
#1poacher 8
hey hi in 1998 i had a whippet that caught a hare and what a size, it was nearly as big as the dog and it weighed 8 or 9lb in weight god i was chuffed Quote Link to post
Rory4 267
think most lurchers will catch the odd day time hare mooching about without the slipping distance of the fens because fields are small here. my first x col whip retrieved 1 day time and 1 on lamp by keeping it away from the gates they usually head for and catching it just before it hits cover Quote Link to post
Blue one 89
They catch the odd one... Edited January 30, 2011 by Blue one Quote Link to post
blackpack 70
i wouldnt say whippets can catch hares regular, actually i would bet on that, i have a whippet here and she has caught a few in her life time she is now 10 but i wouldnt call her a hare dog,. Quote Link to post
_Sean_ 15
i have whippets and they would take hares and they seem to do it well but there are better dogs that would be a lot better suited to the job to bring up your bag 1 Quote Link to post
