tell her you like boys not girls

just joking wee man,you will need to show her you are commited and wont just get fed up with the dog after a spell.just kep at her and tell her you are serious.is there any other peron you could go with and maybe share the burden, but you keep the dog at your place.depends or your mum though.is she easy to change her mind?

To be fair to your mum, she does have a point.

Unless you know what you will be doing in the forseable future it could become a burden.

I.e do you plan on going to Uni/college?

Is your mum flexible(if so can I have her number)?

Would she be willing to look after it the odd time you will inevitably have better things to do?

I had dogs from 15 upwards and my parents sometimes had to muck in when I was out, it is just what will happen.

If you can honestly say you are responsible enough and you will endevour to look after it then I say go for it.

What age are you btw?

i just brought a cocker spaniel home when i was 16 and said i was looking after it for a few days once she fell in love with it i said id been offered it for good. Took a gamble and it paid off for me, but your mum does have a point i still live at home and love the fact that if i have to do a 12 hour shift at work i know the dogs will get let out and fed and kept company. At some point in a dogs life your gonna want to go away or do something and thats what you have to consider before taking one on.

Sound like a smart kid.

I would go for it, if its an ag college just do what I did and take the dog with you everywhere you go. Get more time off as a student than anything else.

Get a nice kennel up fo it beforehand and make sure your mum would be willing to take it out now and again when you couldn't for whatever reason.

She will come around eventually...especially if you leave cute pictures of pups dotted around the house :whistling:

theres your answer, make a deal with her,if you pass all your grades can you have a dog?

i was lucky my dad kept racing greyhounds when i was born and ended up racing them myself.so we always had dogs.i honestly dont think i would ever be without a dog now.
