danw 1,748
I can believe that when the dangerous animals act came in 1976 then some animals may have been released but to believe that they are alive and well some 34 years later is a bit much. judge2010 196
 "would love to see couple bullxs on one" why does someone always say that everytime there something on big cats? you will never see one in british countryside if you believe that your as gullible as believing a repeal on the hunting act SSHHHHH

awen 29
A black cat was seen by a local farmer not to far from me walking into a barn on his farm about 8 months ago he closed the door behind it trapping it inside. the local authority 'not sure who that was 'defra' was informed and it was tranquilised and taken away! he was told thatgoverment policy was to not to publicise such cases to stop panic by landowneers and the public.when asked what wopuld happen he was told old or injured cats are destroyed any healthy ones go to private collectgions game reserves or zoos. casts have been taken locally of prints, also after talking to a local farmer to me about this he has said that he has found a carcus of a sheep henging in a branch aswell as seeing a lynx in the area 15 years ago. the way i see itn is if they were out there you would rarely see them, how often do you see deer, fox, badger unless your know where they are and there are plenty of them abput so a small population of cats would easily evade detection its in there nature to be very elusive even in there natural enviroment. i dont agree,,,, foxes and badgers are seen daily here,, or should say nightly,,,,,, you say cats are elusive, and thats true,,, however wild life photographers film big cats world wide, some of them very rare idividuals.. i agree with robo christ,, we would have seen dead individuals lying around the countryside by now, acording to statistics theres been hundreds if not thousands of sightings,,,, that would mean a lot of individuals wandering the british countryside. wich would mean dead cats lying around, however about 20 years ago there was cerval or jungle cat ,, somthing like that shot in hampshire there was a pic of it with the guy that shot it. a think a small population could go easily undetected. how many people have shone a light on a cat at night or could even identify one in the beam? or shone a light on some white eyes flickering back just to think its a rabbit? a carcass will be scavenged by vermin and infested with maggots and will rot very quickly leaving very little trace. who sees deer carcasses very often. not me and there all around here! they would spend most of the day sitting in a tree in a secluded spot and most people dont look up when there walking, at night a predator llike this would see you long befor the thought of a big cat even crossed your head. i dont see why people think its so impossible. plenty of quarry, moderate climate lots of habitat. many prints have been taken along with eye witness accounts and the release of just a couple of dozen cats in the 70s could in theory be enough individuals to start a population. i think only time will tell.

scothunter 12,609
how much time do people need,if they were out there we would have seen concrete proof way before now.especially in todays modern technology and internet access.not one carcass has been found.not one hunter or farmer has shot one and displayed it,and dont tell me they are being secretive either.a story and the body of a dead big cat would be big news and a tabloid would pay serious money for such a scoop.and we all know how much farmers like money.lol.its abouit as realistic as f*****g nessy and elves living at the bottom of the garden.as for paw prints and those grainy pics and vid footage.a hoax just the same as nessy sightings and crop circles once were.some folk like to feed the myth. villebones 4
Did quite abit of research into these cats last year as was genuinely interested, there have been reports of cat bodies found, one even knocked down by a car. http://www.bigcatmonitors.co.uk/privateinvestigator.htm and heres some for anyone livivng near the warwickshire area: http://www.bigcatsinbritain.org/englishnews593.htm Another article on the 'beast of barford' tells of a muntjac deer carcuss being found up a tree. I also remember of a member on here stating on a previous thread of finding a roe deer half way up a tree hanging on a branch. Believe it or not, Its upto you
RicW 67
A leopard's gonna spend all day hiding up a tree? I can accept that there may be a FEW escaped big moggies around but a breeding population? Naah. Get real guys. Farmer Smith reports losing stock to a big cat. Local journos turn up, offer him MONEY for an interview. He gets on local TV, national press arrive, offer him even more MONEY for an EXCLUSIVE interview. He gets on national TV. Then he is "Local Big Cat Expert" and gets even more MONEY for yapping on with the same old crap. Cynic? Me?
shushyjukal 41
It's a bit different but nobody believed me when I told them I saw a skunk in Kidderminster. Until I posted the video. After that I'm open to any suggestions to anything being spotted in the wild. Just because YOU haven't seen it, it doesn't mean it's not there. All you need is a decent pic or video and people can't argue with that. The problem is that how many people take an unbelievably long range pro camera/video recorder out on their walk? Let's face it by the time you see a cat there's a good chance it's seen you or had your scent and it will be on the move, that's why all the pics are crap, they are at long range on shitty phone cameras. When the ban came in for keeping these cats I know round by me there were people loosing them into the wild so I'd say there is a good chance they are out there and they are still breeding.
