dai dogs 1,527
Brother phoned me this morning to tell me he,d finished the lure machine and to c if i wanted to take the pup for a couple of runs on it. So 1o'clock met him in a local country park nice big open flat space, my brother brung his bitch and his mate came with his whippet 11 months who ive taken out a couple of times and is showing promise he's had a few rabbits on the lamp. While we set the lure machine up the dogs were loose including my 2 and my fathers bitch all doing a bit of bushing as there plenty of warrens along the banks on the side of the field. So we started running the dogs, maching was working a treat pups enjoying it older dogs not all that interested, then dodo as we call him my brothers mate called me to have a look at his dog the whippet which is his first working dog, the dogs eye had gone squint and he was trying to scratch it so had a look in it and could'nt see anything but it really iratating the dog so we packed up and he took the dog to the vets. About an hour gone by so phoned to see what the vet had said, the dog had an inch long thorn gone right into his eye and dodo and my brother have had to take him straight to Bristol to an eye specialist vet, the local vet told them the dog will probably loose the sight in the eye and could even loose the eye if they cant remove it. Lets hope the specalist can save it. Anyone had any experiance of this and how did it turn out? happened to a bitch i had about 20 years ago very lucky she didnt loose her eye. if the worse comes to the worse mate iv got a 8 mth old bitch pup he can have. (no charge) you know the breeding she may suit. cheers dai. Quote Link to post
