Number of rabbits????

Recommended Posts

Combination of factors but it is a nationwide problem apart from 1 or 2 areas where there are actually MORE rabbits than previous years. Looking at our catch records the numbers have been in decline for a few years. You really surprised? What about the countryside isn't f****d up these days?

Definately seem to be holding in pockets this year, lamped some permission thats normally pickled early in the season didn't see one, farmer said there had been a load of mixy there, 20 minutes down the road we've had some nice bags ferreting this year.

Went to a bit, lamping tues night ( ideal to get the pup going small fields loads of rabbits) not many about at all, there were loads there last year so had been waiting for the right night to get up there with the pup.

I reckon there's a lot of factors but alot of mixy about last summer and the last couple of harsh winters can't of helped from what I've seen down here.

Numbers are the same around me, weather or myxy hasn't affected them.... I've notice a lot more fat on the rabbits and deer when gutting them this winter than normal though... All nice big and healthy.

a lot of my farms were hit by mixy a year or 2 ago and have never recovered, what i do see is one or two black rabbits that never seem to be affected by mixy ? why is this do you think they're immune and are they "carriers" of the disease ? anyone else noticed this ?

we've had our fair share this season. an there's a lot of black rabbit's down my ways have'nt been hit with the mixy this season here. ferreted tewksbury early november it was riddled with mixy
