All I had to pay was postage. Thank you john! As some of you will know! I refurbed another meteor MK5 last year, but this one is slightly in worse condition, it arrived to day and I took it apart and this is what I found! This BSA meteor was NO!!!WAY neglected by john, just to make it clear!!! It is looking a bit worse for wear but im sure with some skill, some patience, some new bits and a shed load of elbow grease your the man to nurse it bk to health. Once I had it apart I sprayed every thing with WD40 and left it over night, just to help loosen it all up a bit. This morning at 08:00hrs I put a coat of rust remover over every thing and left for a couple of hours. While I was waiting for that I started on the stock, just a general rub down with some course paper, then down to fine, then some wire wool. Here is a pic Then I started on the piston head, which was in bad condition. The piston just needed a clean in/out side and polish And here it is now all cleaned a polished So I need to get a buffer washer and a sealing ring, for the piston head The guide rod and washer needed a sand down and polish The barrel and action needed the most attention, in regards to removing rust, paint, dirt. And the cocking arm also needed a good rub down too! Cleaned now. And the trigger guard also needed some rubbing down All nice and clean All I need to do now is decided whether I get the lot re-blued, or spray paint the lot. Any info on these options will be gratefully received Also which type of metal primer do I need, and paint. If I decided to spray it. Many thanks Regards davy Quote Link to post

darren watson 14 Posted January 30, 2011 Report Share Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) there was a guy on here a bit ago that had done his S200 in summat called plastidip, like a hard rubberised coating that gave it a real nice "tactical" look and probably made it nice and grippy as well. i plan on doing my stock with the same stuff when i get paid. apparently its safe to use on the metalwork as well.
