ruby jet 184
sounds like the bitch has been entered to early to me mate and thats a hard thing to stop them doing thay do it when thay have been entered to early becouse there not fast enough or developed enough to get on terms with the prey and let out a yap in frustration but once thay start doing it its very very hard to stop them atb 1 Quote Link to post
wexford Pa 84
Its usually a result of the pups lack of confidence in catching the rabbit. Keep her out wit ur dog but only give her the easy ones or squatters, this should stop her when she gets confidence back.. .... Pa Quote Link to post
scothunter 12,609
just stick to lamping on your own mate Quote Link to post

rapidjenky 97
would an anti bark collar work in a situation like this? may nock the dog off a few runs but it may learn that if it keeps its mouth shut it can keep going. then again, it may wreck the dog all together. just a question lads (and lasses). Just give her easy runs, its jst a confidence thing! Quote Link to post
ftm 3,357
one of my collie greyhounds used to yap when on rabbits tried alsorts to stop it but stopped using dog for rabbits and put it on fox [preban] it stopped instantly mate but would still yap on bunnies if he found one when out bushing i have to agree with a previous comment usually its down to entering the dog to early its a confidence thing mate [frustration makes a dog yap] imo Quote Link to post
Richie10 345
Mine only does it in fustration, he growls if the quarry hits cover before he catches it! Otherwise he is quiet. Quote Link to post
ASME IX 1
like guys allready said purely frustration if is a constant yappin,it is a sickening thing to hear,,easy runs until its confidents builds up. if the dogs catchin try not let it bother you(if you can) atb asme9 Quote Link to post
hogdog 61
Because the dog is a pack hunter yapping is just the dog trying to communicate with other members of the pack to give it some help...call it frustration if you like but that's where it comes from. Breeding has done alot to eradicate it from dogs that hunt in a solitary way but you're up against what is a very natural instinct. 1 Quote Link to post

ftm 3,357
1st cross collie greyhounds are supposed to be the most likely cross to bark so i was led to believe i think its got something to do with them not being the fastest of dogs i may me wrong tho thats why i used to hang back as long as i could with my dogs Edited January 26, 2011 by ftm Quote Link to post
