secretagentmole 1,701
Attention Marineville, all personnel proceed to nearest ramp area. Stingray prepare for immediate launch, I have her, my Webley Stingray .177 topped with Hawke HD 4 - 12 x 50 mildot sight! Many thanks to David Shipman at Whittlesey Gun Shop for selling a great package to me. All set up and zeroed in, I have now taken her to my preferred little range, Sinclairs at Whaplode. First thing first, picking her up. She is a heavy gun, 8.2lbs without scope, so you know you have got hold of her. I prefer a heavy rifle however (somthing to do with shooting a 1960s BSA .22 my dad had) so I like this weight. There are no fittings to affix a stap however, so a good hike with this could be a pain! Cocking is easy for a new gun and when I have put a couple of tins of pellets through her it should be even easier. Loading engages the automatic safety catch which is a bit fiddly being a little flick switch on the left hand side of the stock, the Hatsan version with the rear bear trap is easier to find! Anyway with that flicked forward you get to experience the quattro trigger. This is a Webley invention that has found it's way over to the Hatsan range and I was already a fan of this from my 60S! It is easy to find and hold the trigger just before the firing point. This is a positive help for accurate shooting. So you haev scoped up and have pulled the trigger. First thing you notice is the decidedly flat sound from the gun. There is no crash of tubular bells as you fire! Just a flat thwack and very little if any recoil. Grouping, even for a new gun is very tight and after a couple of tins through should only get better. For the money these are little belters! Full power, nice and accurate, good looking and nice to handle. Thoroughly recommended but here is a big but, if you cannot afford the Webley then look at the Hatsan model 55S, it will be cheaper but very similar. Marina At Rest George Peppard I Am Not...
