Think it comes down to some of us like to breed and raise our own. That way we know what were getting. And others buy.Hoping they.ll get one that meet there needs. And again i agree with Dotty. With dogs you cant put a price on freindship.

id have to be in some seriously shitty circumstances to buy in an adult dog         i dont think peopel relise how much it actually helps, if ye raise the pup yaself

na ye aint readin it right, i have said only a mate would get mine,....   an if i wa sthat hard up,.... id only take 1 off a mate..............     so friendship would be the price, cash an dogs

way i see it whin, if i wanted a pup, id breed 1, if i couldnae afford to cover the cost of stud, meds, feed an any extra costs that could occur i wouldnae breed..............simples...........   wh

The reason peeps sell "good dogs" is usually for the one reason they fail to tell you........so I'd not buy a dog doing it.

If I owned a "top class lamping dog" then WHY would I sell it......if I ever found myself in the position I couldn't keep it I'd be pretty sure I could rehome it with mates.....afterall thats what mates do ...don't they.

Bring a pup on......then any failings fall at your door

i only sold rip (terrier) and barney (lurcher) because i moved from england to northern ireland and didnt have the room over here for all the dogs , i did offer the terrier to the lads i know in england for free (even offered him to people on here for free first before he was sold to ted as he was new to the forum and i didnt have a clue who he was or what he was like ..lurcher went back to the lad i bought him off for my money back ...

way is see it is all the half decent lamp dogs i have had, i have brought on from a puppy.......

i have had a few adult dogs over the years that come to me fuly grown or even as a gangly sapling

an to be frank i never bonded wae any of them, an they never ever seemed to do as good a job as a pup that was here since day dot, so to speak..........

i aint saying ye cannae buy/bring in a decent adult dog, just its to much of a gamble for me........

an as for a price of my dogs, if i had to put a value on them...........

well for me, the only thing i would ever accept for any dog/pup i decided to rehome for whatever reason

be it a fully working lamp dog or a sapling, is the price of friendship

cos after all if ye aint my mate, or at the least a mate of a very good mate, ye aint having the dog

id rather pts than let any dog of mine on the lurcher merry go round

as above.what would you pay for a lamping dog that is doing the bizz on the lamp and takes the ocassional day time long ear

why do you ask ??? have you something for sale or are you thinking of selling one ???

no mate i have nothing for sale and my dogs will not be for sale ever. the reason i asked is there was a thread on asking £600 for a lamping dog and i was curious as to how much people would be willing to pay for a working lurcher. ive never bought an adult ive had all my dogs from pups. which have been bred by myself or my family with the exception of my 1st dog witch i got at 8 weeks old from someone local for £80.
