My mate used hay

Hay carries spores and molds that can cause breathing problems and allergies so i wouldn't use it for dogs.

A lot of horses are affected by hay allergies and have to be fed soaked hay so i wouldn't take the risk of using it for the dogs either

straw no good for a running dog with saw quicks, dust gets in and irritates and makes them swell up worse, and holds parasites.

quilt from charity shop is warm and clean, £1 or £2 changed when neccessary
