ratattack 111
Great place, good weather, good food, cheap gold etc go to the souks for allsorts of stuff but mainly jewellery. Just don't f**k around over there as you will soon be in jail, a mate of mine went and ended up in jail for taking photo's of places he shouldn't have, told him not to but hey he learnt the hard way. Don't get pissed up and be loud rude in the street....1 way ticket to jail...don't be rude to their women...another ticket to jail...They also don't like lewd acts in public, kissing or anything more than even holding hands is frowned upon! Play by their rules and you will be fine.

Hannah4181 260
My uncle has been there for the last 20 years, i've been out every year for the last 10 .......... it is an amazing place, but IMO seeing it change over the years, it has for me become too big and glitzy. Half the charm was the luxurious, erratic and dam right amazing architecture and pure luxury ........ right alongside a camel farm! I loved the contrasts and although the city and the creek is very much still a working port and full of culture and history, the light up camels and kiss me quick burkas have taken the edge off it. Again for a first timer visiting i suspect you will love it, its hard not to be bowled over by the sights ................ if you go and have time, try and wander along the creek at night and get into the old town, its beautiful and if your a culture vulture an absolute must. . . . . even for an hour, leave the wealth and glitz behind. Once you've done that, well where to start ............ The Burj for the Friday buffet is an absolute must as well!! Like nothing you've ever seen or tasted, from cornflakes to whole lobsters . . . Book early as its hard to get in. Dune bashing in the 4X4's.......... great night out, try and do the overnighter as well, the desert is pretty special at night and the hubbly bubbly gives it a great edge! Gold souks ............ try to visit the old ones, much fairer prices and better quality. "DARMIS" are a very good company and have a fews shops, all fair and above board. The Madinate centre is fab for shopping and has perhaps the best cocktail bar i've ever been too! The Atlantis you kind of need to see to believe really. I could go on, but it's knowing where to stop! As has been said, if your respectful of the culture and country then you will be fine, if your not and have ideas of going all brits abroad ............. you'll be seeing the dark side of a Dubai prison. artic 595
They call it the Dubai Dreams...... It's a shit hole, and I'm glad when I do go to see one certain man (a few will know who I mean) that its for a short stay, and even he would agree with this. I have a friend, who through work transfered there to work in air traffic control, he is soon to transfer back! Go else where mate and save your money. If you do end up going, don't hire a car, they cannot drive and will smash your car and drive off smiling at you. I tell you what, if you have some spare cash go there to buy property, very cheap and tax free, then rent the arses off them to silly people who go there for a holiday. You will make some decent wonga. Dubai is nothing more than an experiment, not a holiday. Fart and they will have you in for breaching ones peace. Happy Hols.
Richie10 345
Went there for 18 days once, not like real life all glitzy on the outside but secret police and strange laws underneath. Surprising amount of proffessional ladies there, but if tourists seen with them you are in trouble, not the same for locals. Some great points and many bad points. There are better places.
