CUPCAKE118 0
I'd look seriously at Tikka or Browning - that floor plate and detachable magazine combination is the ideal best of both worlds approach. Also if you want to save a few quid, have a look at the A-Bolt, it doesn't have the clever safety of the X-Bolt but the same detachable mag and floor plate system - so you can box load or top load. I prefer the mag system when unloading too, less chance of dropping bullets in the grass. Thats a very fair comment Colster. bullet+grass+dark= Bollocks Quote Link to post
trooperman 73
had a remington sps 700 varmint,,,then a x bolt,,,now a CZ 527 wont have any of the others again. paul Quote Link to post

jonesbach 1
ill throw a different one in the mix..RWS TITAN 3..knocks the foxes clean out to 150yrds(furthest shot so far) cheaper than the tikka etc but uses parts from the likes of sauer for the action. not many about but well made and great if your budget wont stretch that far! AzMaN 0
I have the styer pro hunter and i love it with its set trigger and super safe safety system on it. i did have a rem 700, didnt get on with it, it just didnt feel right in my hands. personal choice at the end of the day, if it feels right and shoots straight then its a good rifle Quote Link to post
danebrewer10 6
i agree with colster , to fiddly in the night , igot the rem in 204 . great gun never have floor plate again . go with mag easyer and safer . disagree, I have to keep filling my annie mag up during the night (that is when I'm shooting and not just for the sake of it! )as it only holds 4 rds and I'm too tight to buy another, (i'd still have to fill them up anyways) just get yourself a Petzl Tikka with the red filter, really not that visible to other animals, plus it preserves your night vision, and gives you hands free light when you need to be opening gates 'n' such Edited January 31, 2011 by danebrewer10 Quote Link to post

Thats one i had looked at too looks well put together and reviews aint to bad at all!! I am almost set on X-Bolt now as it ticks more boxes then the rest! i was thinking of going a little cheaper on the rifle and upping my optics budget but my mate pointed out 'Knowing how you are if you get one you dont fully want you will never be happy coz thats how i am' he said and its a very very true comment i think i will be looking to build my kit up over the next few months then i wont have to skimp on any budgets! Deker 3,478
As you may have noticed most people think the best gun is the one they have, hey, it's human nature, you don't see many people say... I have a Remington ....it is S**t I have a Howa... it is S**t I have a Tikka... it is S**t I have a Winchester.... it is S**t I have a Browning...... it is S**t I have a Steyr... it is S**t I have a Sako...it is S**t I have a CZ... it is S**t I have a whatever ..it is S**t There are very few bad makes out there, they simply do not survive, there are obviously a few bad guns, it happens. Get what you want, that you can afford and makes you feel happy, odds are it will work and you will have a big grin! ATB! PS. I have Tikkas and Remington Centrefires at the moment, they all work but I MUCH prefer magazines! Quote Link to post

Very true Deker its the one i like and as my mate put it 'if you dont get the one you want you will only be thinking you got the 2nd best one!' for the same reason i bought a house with an inside toilet because its the one i wanted and i feel 2nd best wouldn't be better then!
