jonansuki 21
get a male yemen chameleon there ace i had 1 built it a viv from a old wardrobe put loads of sticks in it but stuck them to the walls with expanding foam and some shelves made fron foam to used to let it crawl all over the house favourite place was on top of the curtains or on my head never bit me or even tried really hand tame if you get it young and spend time with it dont need heat mats if your house is fairly warm they adapt but the crickets do your head in after a few weeks mate there ace to watch with that big tounge trying to get there prey lol You WILL need a heat mat/lamp (preferably lamp, it's more natural). Reptiles will not adapt to a warm house . My first reptile was a leopard gecko and he only died recently after 15 years, and I got him as an adult. So you really need to be thinking long term with many reptiles. They make great first lizards and don't need quite as much space as a bearded. But if you have the cash I would go for a pair/group of chuckwallas, they are the last reptile I kept and are much the same as bearded dragons but a bit more interesting. They are also 100% vegetarian so no crickets to worry about. Good luck with whatever you pick. YOU DONT NEED A HEAT MAT MATE I HAD 2 MALE AND FEMALE FROM COUPLE WEEKS OLD WITHOUT HEAT MATS JUST BASKIN LAMPS AND STRIP LIGHT IN SUMMER GET THEM OUT TO BASK IN SOME NATURAL SUN FULL OF VIT D THEY LOVE IT THE BLOKE IN PET SHOP WAS PISSED OFF WHEN I TOLD HIM HE WAS RIPPIN PEOPLE OFF SELLIN THEM HEAT MATS FOR YEMEN AS HE KNEW WHICH IN THE END HE ADMITED YOU DONT NEED HEAT MATS THEY ARE A VERY GOOD FIRST REPTILE AND WILL ADAPT TO WARMTH JUST MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE BASKIN LAMP ON 1 OR 2 IN MORN HEAT EVERYWERE UP AND SAME IN AFTERNOON FOR A BIT LONGER THEY WILL BE FINE THEY ALSO LOVE THEM GRUB WORMS JUST WATCH WHEN THEY POP YOU DONT GET COVERED IN GUTS HA HA THEY RECKON WITHOUT HEAT MATS THEY COULD BE AT RISK ON MBD METABOLIC BONE DIESE (SPELLIN) JUST DUST YOUR CRICKET AND OTHER FOOD IN CALCIUM POWDER YOU WILL BE FINE THERE IS MENT TO BE A TEMP DIFF IN VIV IF YOU GET IT RIGHT COOL IN BOTTOM GRADUALY GETTING WARMER AS YOU GO UP TO BASKING LAMP WERE ALL THE HEAT IS I HAD A 6FT VIV BUILT FROM AN OLD WARDROBE TOOK ME AGES TO BUILD LOADS PLANTS IN THERE JUST SPLIT WARDROBE DOWN MIDDLE FEMALE ON 1 SIDE MALE ON OTHER THEY FOUND THE BEST PLACE TO SIT WAS ABOUT MIDDLE AS TANK WAS WARM ENOUGH FROM LAMP AND LIGHT AND WHEN IT WAS HOT THEY WENT LOW MIGHT HAVE A FEW PICS SOME WERE WILL HAVE A LOOK AND PUT 1 UP MATE Edited January 26, 2011 by jonansuki

BOLIO1 1,078
Pity you're not keen on snakes....I love'em. Have a female brazilian rainbow boa, male "high orange" morph Brazilian rainbow boa and a male and female common boa. Since you prefer a lizard why not google info on the black and white Argentinian Tegu which can be researched on the Tegu Talk website. We have a female of nearly 4 feet long and as tame as a kitten. Good luck whatever you decide.
