Ratting day

Recommended Posts

I was on a ratting invite from Water Badger today with herdwick, scrapman, yeeharr and another friend. The farm was a mixture of chicken and cattle and had certainly had a serious rat problem recently. Unfortunately the farmer had recently had a go at gassing them so we found very few in the extensive warrens round the farm but had some good sport moving wood piles around and digging, i even flushed a whopping rat from inside a lawn mower!

We ended up with 16 plus a few that the terriers ate and a couple of nests that were also eaten! I shot one on a beam with the catapult but it fell inside the wall and couldnt be got out.

The dogs did well, and my friends three pups, two lakies and a pat, got their first taste of rat.

Ive not got many pics but im sure the others will add some to this post when they see it. Thanks to Water badger for the invite although im slightly worried about your trophy rat pose!

He could very well do either, you never can tell with him! It was a good size rat, that one was flushed out the lawnmower and took a chunk out of my terrier

Those warrens were stupid deep, i cant believe Parker jumped off that wall and didnt hurt himself!

only had it a short time and already had to replace the oil can as it rusts on the pump personaly in hindsite would not bother dose not seem to be that effective most of the rats today were a result from experienced terriers and spades/ t bars or pokin stick things as scrapman refers to them (pro to the last) will be persevering with it and keep you informed but to date SAVE YOUR MONEY

Mine is the chain saw smoker, i much prefer it to the rat attack one of WB's. Mine may be noisy and temperamental but its tried and tested. I think the noise has alot to do with them bolting too. The ratattack should be the business, loads of smoke, works most of the time, very easy to use etc but it just dosent seem to bolt the rats as well as a 2 stroke one IMO
