What age should children be introduced to hunting?

Recommended Posts

Our boy comes with us a foot followers with the Cheshire's and with the border county mink hounds and he is 7.

He also goes ferreting and he's been out lamping a couple of times and absolutely loves it. He is waiting til he is old enough to come beating bless him

I think if they grow up with it then they will naturally go on and do it with no problems what so ever.

I don't think we would take any of this friends with us as none of them are into any type of field sports at all and I have no idea what i would do if they reacted badly.

I wouldnt take my daughter out with the mink hounds until she could do a full day without whining that her feet hurt or "how much further is it?"

She started as a regular at age 8. Started whipping in to minkhounds at 12, to beagles a year later and she is now junior master of a pack of bassets in scotland at the age of 26
