Utterly confused and needing help.

Recommended Posts

hi lads, got home from work at about half 1 today and decided to zero my scope this afternoon so i could calibrate my mildots.

i started by measuring out 25metres as reccomended for a .22 by si . i then taped a target to an old slide i had and put tape around it so if i had a stray shot i could see if it was ie.low high left or right.

i checked my pressure and it was just below 200bar so id say around 190bar,he reccomended pressure.

i then laid out a rag the rest the gun on and a chair for me to sit on as i obviously needed the shot to be spot on for it to be zeroed correctly. i took a shot and heared it hit the slide low,but thought it must have been an error on my part,so i took another 3 shots all hitting low in the same area this was a good 1.5 to 2 foot low :icon_eek: .

i checked my pressure once again and it had dropped a touch after taking some more shots ,so to be on the safe side i decided to refill it,so i did to just below 200bar 179201_184925618194782_100000320345436_533973_437351_n.jpg

i then went back out and let another 3 shots off,it was still hitting way to low .

adjust your scope you numpty i hear you say . i then adjusted my scope around 3 clicks up,let off another shot and no different the pellet was still hitting this area that im pointing at.

so i went on to adjust it higher, around another 10 clicks and it did nothing . i then adjusted it all the way to its maximum in 10 click intervals and yes i was clicking it the right way.

i noticed by then my pressure had dropped to about 180bar so once again to be on the safe side,i refilled.

this did nothing and it was still hitting way to low in the same place as before.

just to clarify the target is bang on 25 meters away and my shots were bang on 100% for i fact.

i then decided to try the mildots ,so i gave it 4 mildots hold over and it hit here.

wtf im thinking, why the hell isnt my adjustments to the scope making a difference ?

the only thing ive done is change my magnification from x5 to x6 as si reccomended it the night before and surely this hasnt caused it ? as before today i could hit a target with a 4 inch grouping sitting down at 35 yards (i measured it).

so basically my scope isnt making a difference,my shots are bang on ,and my pressure is also spot on. i have no idea what the hell is wrong ? :wallbash:

this has also put an end to tomorows shoot :wallbash::cry: .

any ideas are welcome chaps, the only thing that it could be to my novice brain is the adjustment in magnification as this is the only thing that changed before i let a shot off.im just hoping my scope isnt nakered ?

thank you in advance

brad.

hi brad why are you filling to 200bar? you only fill to 190 recommended by AA your rifle has a sweet point :where its at its most accurate on the s410 is is usually from 170bar to 1110bar my rifl

hi brad

why are you filling to 200bar?

you only fill to 190 recommended by AA

your rifle has a sweet point :where its at its most accurate on the s410 is is usually from 170bar to 1110bar

my rifle is 160bar to 100bar

so fill to 170 bar go by the gauge on the bottle not the gun

then you need to turn your scope turrets( while counting) full turns till it stops then count back,to half way point. then check it out for zero again,it sounds like your scope is the problem

i could never get on with hawke scopes

let us know how you get on.may be si or simon will add to this "i hope" lol

i usually fill to just below 200 bar as ive heared its an innacurate reading when first filled as with the pressure theres heat which expands ,giving a higher reading so it ususally drops to about 190 then. okay i will reset the scope tonight and give it a try tomorow,i really have no idea how this has happened as yesterday it was firing sweet at targets at 35yards .and today this ? i havent hit the scope ,well not that im aware of anyway ,would you reccomend resetting the horizontal zero also ? or just reset vertical and go from there ?

also if i was to buy a new scope sometime, what would be you reccomendation upto about 130 quid ?

thank you for the help

i was thinking thee same andy!:no::wallbash: ,to adjust the turrests from min to max and not have a movement is implying there fooked to me. But why ? ive not bashed it ,gun is like its brand new ,ive not even put 800 pellets through it ffs. yes ive had it for 3 years but its hardly been used. And i really dont have the money for a scope atm, just bought a lamp for 70 and now this :icon_eek: .I have 140 atm but need to get my project running otherwise i wont meet my deadline!

Sounds like the scope's elevation turret at least, is kaput for sure! 25 yards or metres is more than enough to see positive changes in POI with just a click or two. You should have no problems caused by changes in magnification with the pellet's point of impact regardless of zero. If the lenses are 1st Focal Plane the pellet will hit the same spot from 9 to 3 mag or 14 down to 4 or, whatever the scope mag range is. Best I can suggest is take it back where you bought it and see if you can get a replacement under Hawke's warranties or guarentees. Fom what I've seen of Hawke scopes so far, they are either very good indeed or a bloody disaster!

hmm i would love to buy that mtc viper 4-16x50 IR but just cant atm :( .

also in my chinese impression ''i no no meesta davy'' :whistling: .

hmm tus thats very strange about it not working on the s410,surely it cant be to do with the gun!!! , anychance of you trying it back on another gun???

okay i have the box and all original allen keys lense wipe everything that came with the scope. The warranty card reads

''your new optical product has a limited lifetime warranty(legally restricted to 10 years in europe) against defects in material and/or workmanship provided that the unit has not been abused, used incorrectly, taken apart or serviced by any party other than hawke optics. This warranty does not cover failure from fair wear and tear.this warranty is limited to the original purchaser and is not transferable. your receipt of purchase should accompany any warranty claim.no guarantee can be given if dated proof of purchase is not supplied.

should any original defect appear, package the unit and return prepaid to the service manager at the address of your hawke distributor, for repair or replacement at the option of the guarantor.the name address and telephone number of the sender must be included in the package along with a note explaining the defect found.

this guarantee is in addition to and does not affect any rights ,which the consumer may have by virtue of the sale of good act

hawke optics''

geez that is long lmao,so should i send it to them? lol i have no idea how this happened and just hope its a product failure.
