scothunter 12,609
your idea of the real deal is prob vastly diffrent than some elses opinion.so all i can say is,ive owned a few good dogs over the years and done what was expected of them. Quote Link to post
bird 9,862
if it was a rabbit dog, i would say Bryn my 1x collie grey. Taken to most places and he as always done well, if plenty rabbits he will get big bags. But my best dog was bitza bitch Bess,90% grey with bit of whippet+collie. She was 25in 55lb , and she was brill on all quarry. If it had 4 legs she would catch it, she got hurt when 5 year old, never could run proper again . Kept her till she died 14, never had a dog like since .? Quote Link to post
skinner 348
had working dogs for 30 years and yes you always get one that stands out from the rest Quote Link to post

fresh earth 47
Depends what you mean ... I have owned whippets and greyhounds all my life and with the greyhounds all were exactly what they were meant to be at the end of the day if you buy a dog bred the right way the rest is upto you. As for whippets out of a dozen or so 4 have been exactly what i wanted and id pay a fortune for 3 the three that have passed. The real deal in my eyes is something that turns out how it was meant to if you buy a well bred dog and bring it one properly there is no reason why they wont all be capable and THE REAL DEAL but yes there will always be one or two that stand out. My first whippet buffy would be my choice keen agile and heart of a lion but i was only about 12 so realisticaly if i did actualy run her with my good bitch now she would probably be lacking in the same consentration experience and control. As for greyhounds if you buy a monky it will only ever be a monky buy a good dog and youl win races i suppose it should be the same for couring dogs but thats not my type of dog so couldnt say.
