best dogs ive had were home bred but payed 200 in ninties ,and first few roe paid for him , i prefer to pay atoken gesture or give a pup back for mateing ,i will not entertain rescues etc has to be planned matein to further my own stock ,been offred dogs for free but breeding unknown ,no good to me, has to be thought out as its got to further what you want in life ,for your doy etc the way i look at it if people pay they look after things giving them willly nilly thye dont unless genuine hunting men rvrn then they will sell if somebody offers them cash ,

i'ed be happy to pay more for a dog but it was a chance i took with her and she's come good and no matter what money was offerd to me she wont be going anywhere ever! she's standing me at the min £700 vets bill's

All genuine dogmen would never sell a good dog from their kennel, u might get a pup if ye lucky, don't be fooled into thinking ye got a goodn,ye probably got ripped off. Buy a pup, rear it yeself then it down to you how it becomes,if it crap don't sell to some soft arse,do the honourable thing, an start again.choose ye pup carefully stick to who ye know. Seems to me by the answers most peoples good dogs wer passed to them by friends or bred at home or close by. These so called legends we hear of might be good dogs,but it don't mean their offspring will be,if ye put tessa Sanderson over lindford Christie it don't mean ye gonna get Olympians,ye probably get some little fat kid with glasses on haha.good luck in ye sport.

Ive got to say most of my hunters have been free wether staghound, foxhound or rhodesian ridgeback I paid 100 dollars for a smooth fox terrier once and she turned out a cracker Ive paid for dogs also and they have been useless like stuntman Its the expence of getting them home that hurts the pocket a bit but if you didnt want them you wouldnt fork out the dough.

 

Recon its not wether there free or not its weather they ar from good stock or not If they come free its just a bonus.
