reputed sellers thread?

Recommended Posts

in the last couple of weeks iv seen & heard of a few deals over airguns and stuff turning sour due to complications/scumbags and it disheartens me to think that there are people out there that'll do that to fellow shooters. I have seen on the falcon owners forum that they have a space for recognising and vouching for people who have done good deals, provided swift service, generally being a gent etc. does anyone think such a space would be useful/effective on this site. i think that by pooling everybodys resources it would be possible to build up a good collection of reliable people/traders and therefore reducing the chances of getting into transactions with dodgy folk, and it would provide some reassurance for people wanting to buy, sell or swap with someone they dont know but who can be vouched for.

any thoughts?

i for one think its a very good idea,

this way the people that are good and honest to deal with selling and buying dont get tard with the same brush as scammers.

the only problem is that the people that are the scammers are not the reg's and as such dont care about there forum rep or if they go into the "good sellers" box,as once they have there money there offski.

however for new commers to the site or first time buyers they will be able to check if that person has sold befor and find out how it went.

so for that reason alone it got to be worth it.

A good idea mate, but who will have the say to put if someone is a good bloke or not in regards to deals etc?

It’s an opening for really upsetting someone and discrediting someone falsely if it’s not done correctly.

An example, (an it’s just an example Steve)

Steve said yesterday in his post about scammers

Quote “Luke is getting the police involved which I would have done, but as they have said its nothing to do with me as my deal was complete, but I’ve also been banned from the air gun forum as being called a scammer which DavyT63, Archie and Venomviper will tell you I'm not as I have done deals with all the above names.â€

Now I personally believe that Steve is the innocent party here and is not a scammer as he did his part in the deal and that was that. However he is now branded a scammer in the other forum which discredits him.

Do you see where I am coming from buddy?

I would be really pis-ed if someone branded me a scammer or a trickster when I wasn’t.

It just needs to be done very fairly and by someone who is not bias in anyway.

It is only supposed to be a thread for good deals, to show members who have acted properly when selling on the forum. Any posts about bad deals should go on their own separate thread or the posters be dealt with by the mods.

Cheers Steve buddy,

I see what your saying Peak buddy but you missing my point here.

Let’s say I sell you a rifle for example.

I think that I’ve done a great job with you and a fair one.

I wish to sell another rifle soon to someone else.

I want my name going onto the good deal thread, but you don’t agree with me.

Who is right and who says and decides who is right (mod wise)?

Someone could seriously get upset here and be left off the list for no fair reason.

I must say I'm liking the principle of this idea a lot. The times we are moving into are financially tougher than ever and that always brings out the scum. Especially on the internet. If people have had a good old honest, great deal with a top lad like Andy rossy08 recently where he sold his HW35 to a very satisfid and well pleased chap recently, then yes! Let's hear about it.

But then we come to what Si picked up on when someone uses it to discredit someone unfairly. A Directory of Good and Ethical Trading is as open to abuses as the next. It's far harder to argue and discredit against a lad like Andy when he's done a good turn by his customer and the fellow puts up a kind appraisal of thanks in a thread.

Steve's case is the flipside of Andy's experience but, that's purely down to naivety on Steve's part, not willing deception. And I really don't mean to be disrespectful to our Steve here but, he's a hell of a lot wiser now! Hard lesson learnt sometimes mate, I'm afraid! We know you are no scam merchant Steve, far from! But what if it would have been too easy to have named and shamed you on something like this idea proposes? And if people use it as a yardstick of trust, then you really are sunk when you want to try selling another rifle down the line.

It would need careful moderation controls to see these abuses and false accusations don't happen, but, it's a good idea at least in principle
