FightTheBan 1,147
Personally I would rather risk loosing the dog than risk breeding of a sub standard dog. But hey, its not mine and who am I to judge. If RFYL is desperate for a pup of it then its his choice. FTB 1 Quote Link to post
bird 9,986
Aye but pleanty of dogs do the job for a bit but can't take the strain in the long term. Does that make them worthy of breeding? I've a three year old bitch here doing everything she is asked to and more but won't even consider lining her for a few seasons yet. FTB spot on, give him 2-3 more seasons then you know you got 100% dog He is nice looking dog , hope my pup dont get that big Quote Link to post
Moll. 1,770
to be honest he could wait but the way i see it if the dog is doing what he is bred for an your happy why not as with a working dog ye never knw whats round the corner an could want to keep his line going for himself If you are breeding for personal use, then it is your choice to use your own young and relatively unproven dog. But imo a young lad like this is not ready for any 'stud' work. Working dogs and losing dogs is a threat to all of us, but part and parcel of hunting with them. If everyone bred a dog as soon as it did something good then there would be hundreds of thousands of sub standard lurchers. I am not saying pups from this dog would be sub standard, but realistically he is not fully proven, nor will be for a few more season yet 2 Quote Link to post

pikey1989 36
I would breed from him if hes seen plenty of work, some bull xs at 2 year old have seen more work than others when their 5 but people would rather breed from the 5 year old. if hes good worker and you want a pup too bring on and got a good bitch too put him too breed him you dont know when an accident could happen too him. 2 Quote Link to post

mushroom 13,268
Kinell we can all have our views but to impose them on someone else is not right ffs and for the record I would'nt breed until I was certain it was worth it regardless of age (above 2months fae a dog and first season fae a bitch usually) Quote Link to post
chimp 299
wahoo more pups for thl on there way Quote Link to post
otter 61
nice dog , he might well throw some use full pups ... personally speaking i think he is to young to be a stud dog . but then if the owner is happy to breed him that's his affair and nowt to do with anyone else ...... however ... i do have a question for the owner of this fine animal .... if you breed a litter for your own use would you sell the pups ?? or would you keep what you want for yourself and put the rest in a bucket of water ??
