Guest the yorkshire lad
after one of my ferrets escaped for a day and then came back i have noticed ticks on both of my ferrets. I removed the couple that i saw and blowtorched the hutch. Now a week later they each have at least ten ticks very small though , too small to remove at the moment. Any help how to get rid of these awful parasite much appreciated.cheers Quote Link to post

Guest ferreting king
if the ticks are small put nail farnish over the ticks all over their body and this will suffocate the ticks and stop more coming on to the ferret and if you have got another hutch put the ferrets in the new one and smother the old hutch with nail varnish leave for about a week and then things shall be right Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
Whats wrong with flea spray? clues in the name ferreting king. You can do what you want, But Personally I would rather apy a couple of quid more and not put shite on my ferrets, same as the vaselline thing I dont really see the point. I use 'Bob martin', works well they are normally off very quick. I find it easier to spray it all over a rubber glove first then rubb over the ferts, specially handy in funny spots like behind ears (with is where I find the most) Quote Link to post
The Ferret Tamer 1
Okay what's wrong with using Frontline spray on the ferts and then spraying the hutches with Duramitex. Done it this way for years and never had a problem. Both items can be purchased without recourse to a vet therefore saving a small fortune. Regards FT Quote Link to post

jacob 28
frontlien with remove them, AND prevent them. whatever you do dont nail varnish the hutch, would cost a fortune lol and would sweat the wood if you just rub vaseline on ticks theyll suffocate and drop off the next day,hot water and a bit of bleach and an old fashioned scrubbing brush for the hutch, clean bedding and you should be sorted, Quote Link to post

The pigeon racing lads have been using this stuff for years on their lofts to control red mite, you want to see what it does to house flies, fleas explode when sprayed with this stuff. I dont see why you feel the need to set fire to your hutch (are you a closet arsonist?). Regards FT Quote Link to post
