Thats excactly my way of thinking and i have had some bad things happen to me over the years from keepers and police.atb dell I will second that Del.. I was talking to a landowner in our area last weekend and he said he does'nt let the hare population on his land increase because all it does is bring the dickheads in their 4x4s onto his fields every night. So he has given permission to a mate of mine to shoot and he tells him to make sure there's nothing for them to run with the Lurchers. Its the same story all over the place where we are. robo-christ 40
i can understand why people wouldnt ask for permission,if you get turned down realistically that wouldn't stop most people, except then the land owners know exactly what you look like. the people who steal from keepers, break fences etc etc f**k it up for everyone else, ive never taken anything that belonged to someone else while out with the dogs,my dogs mean to much to me to risk them getting shot for one thing and also im not a thief. Roebuck Rod 6
I hope everyone enjoyed my thread. It was supposed to give an insight into the bygone days to how it is nowadays. 20 or 30 yrs ago, life was some what different, no mobile phones, no internet, old cars, (bedford vans, vauxhall vivas, marinas, ford anglias). Very much like HEARTBEAT on the tv. There were no drugs. If you were lucky enough to discover the countryside, you looked after it. No one drove through fences or in fields. If you got caught, You took what came. Yes I admit I cut the fences when I was 18, But there was no need to kill my pride and joy car for lamping few rabbits on heritage land. I never went running to the old bill ever. No one ever did back then, it was part of british culture. Now people phone the plod if someones pinched their snowman. Crazy I do think that age helps. I was a little bugger when I was younger, like many, but now I own a small business, couple off my friends are millionaires now, one person who I used to poach with now has shares in a gun club. Its mad what can happen over the years. And by starting this thread, I have been lucky enough to be invited by a game keeper to run his land. Not many people would give such an opportunity. Its Something that I am very grateful for. So I must off done something right along the way at some point Quote Link to post
Lost Generation 93
Reading this and a lot of other recent threads it seems to me more and more that this site is becoming just a support group for the increasing number of heartless psychopaths set on ram-raiding the countryside. Sadly, I think it's time for Ian B to either pull the plug on this site completely or at the very least to kill the lurcher forum like he killed the bull breeds forum. At the very minimum I think its time to introduce some ruthless moderating to get these idiots, sadists and thugs off of here and perhaps help teach youngsters developing an interest in longdogs some respect for the countryside and respect for their quarry. That's enough for me, I'm sickened by this place. 1 Quote Link to post
robo-christ 40
poaching doesnt = lack of respect for quarry or the countryside. Quote Link to post

whin 463
ive always thought poaching was the fun bit ,and well made it taste sweeter at times ,and if your careful and no the lye of the land youll go undetected for years , never thought it a big thing if done [bANNED TEXT] , but you do have to be in tune with the country side to persevere ,this destroying crops etc fences well aint realy poaching its more malicuois damage uless getting pursued then any thing goes but thats adiffrent story Quote Link to post
