FightTheBan 1,147
Most Grouse keepers I know turn a blind eye to lads out doing a bit, as long as they are out daytime and stay away from the hill. Pheasant is different for obvious reasons. Guys need to remember that the keepers have a job to do, and if you are stupid enough to get caught then you should accept the consequences. They dont choose to be chasing people about at all hours, I am sure they would prefer to be at home with their families. Pople should also try knocking the door first, you would be amazed the amount of time you get on (if you agree to work for it), and if not you have lost nothing. FTB Quote Link to post
ftm 3,357
to the lad who replied to my post about doing keepers tyres etc this was 20 years ago where i live in the north east and i can assure you the keepers were real twxts and always mob handed we were a minority sneaking about like [poachers]do taking a few rabbits then getting back to car to see 4 tyres slashed rotor arm missing from engine and in some cases windows put out !what did you think we were supposed to do ?stop poaching? .well nothing would stop me and my mate from going out in them days we were beat up locked up but never fed up just kept on hunting so really all we did was pay the pricks back at there own game mate .Hope that explains things a little easier and i bet we wont be the last lads to repay a keepers kindness 1 Quote Link to post

Preban/post ban I couldnt' give a f**k Fact is I don't want to fight no one I like an easy life I like to be left in piece and not hassled by poachers I would like to get on with my job without the thought of having to stay up all night to protect my birds from some thieving c**t in fact I would far rather be at home f*****g the wife I am employed to protect the game on the estate and to do that means I have to confront poachers I would sooner I didn't but that is my job so what do you do?For a fact I didn't make the decision to be a keeper for the fun of chasing folk of an estate that I don't even own. Another not so comfy fact is that of all the poachers I have ever stopped not one had been to my door to ask permission they just presumed the answer was no guess they just didn't have the balls to come and ask. bigears 205
had my tyres slashed at altcar afew years ago by sam bell the under keeper at that time, now head keeper a week later some one slashed his ,that's the only time i had anything happen there, been done a few times by stuart wilcox the head keeper at the time ,stuart was a proper old time keeper good at his job and never told lies in court unlike mr bell :wankerzo4: , had plenty of fun with the keepers at rufford and redcat lane, i took the keepers keys out of his truck then threw them in the plough was not a happy man , had my van rammed at redcat lane and haskayne had my tyres slashed at hull, had the front two tyres shot at scunthorpe that cost the farmer over £300 for 2 new tyres , he was daft enough to get the police out to us that really backfired on him ,had guns stuck in my face a few times been shot at,only ever came to fisticuffs once, i have met some good keepers and bad same with the police used to be on first name terms with them down lincolnshire, all this was over 18 years ago,i was only ever interested in coursing,i ended up with loads of permission down lincolnshire even moved there,i now just have a bedlington and do a bit off lamping and shooting, i no longer want to kill another hare as long as i live i would rather shoot them with my camera now, must admit coursing was and still is my first love but i can not be bothered with all the hassel today, i still believe coursing with one dog is fair and have nothing against it, still makes my hair on the back of neck stand up when i see a hare on a winter wheat field, i feel sorry for all the young ones who want to get in to it happy hunting Quote Link to post

FTB have to agree with you on the grouse keepers there mate.hada few good nights drinking with a couple on the leadhills estate.sadly they dead now,but turned a blind eye as long as you stayed off the hill.anyway grouse tastes like chewing a bit heather lol as for chapping keepers doors,no offence but think your kidding yourself on there.i wouls say most keepers see a running dog there no chance they are gonna let you on thier estate.fairly or otherwise they have this stigma of dog men and whether thats us to blame or not they dont want to know.even asking for ferret permission, there never keen.to concerned of what you see around the estate.jmo mate and what ive expierenced.
