danw 1,748 Posted January 20, 2011 Report Share Posted January 20, 2011 Have to say over the years I have chased my share of poachers and their aint many as will stand their ground and have a go, most run like f**k I guess that's why they all wear track suits and trainers :whistling: where do you work then mate,?they arnt running from you they are runnig from fines cos all law is on keepers side,dont beleve your own bullshite mate?goto local pubs where these poachers drink if your so brave, no poacher is running from a fine on this ground I f*****g hate the plod and I don't need them to come and sort a poacher neither do I feel the need to shoot dogs or trash a blokes motor, I have taken my share of beatings in the past ,given a fair few too but fact is poachers run or hide they don't front up to the keeper unless they have numbers on their side. the_stig 6,614 Posted January 20, 2011 Report Share Posted January 20, 2011 had a load of pheasants away from some pens - heard the keeper and his dogs about so we stashed em in a ditch and headed home -- being greedy we went back to pick em up an hour later and got a right kicking from the keeper and his mates - who`d found them and guessed we`d be back .. he used to come into the village for a pint i used to let the tyres down on his land rover ... this was around 25 year ago we ended up getting on and he would drop me a brace off along with homegrown veg and eggs ... Dont like bullys Its hard to be careful when the bloods up and it wouldn't be the first time I have steamed in and realised I was proper outmatched thats when it pays to calm down accept what the lads are doing ain't that bad (unless its the birds their after)and just have a word a lot of lads are reasonable and a bit of respect from both sides can go a long way You never know roebuck we might of met I ain't that far from you if you get stuck for some where to run give us a pm 3 Quote Link to post
Red Collar 28 Posted January 21, 2011 Report Share Posted January 21, 2011 cou;d tell afew good tales then and now nowadays more informers and do gooders in certain areas ,you just have to be quite at times and be ready for what comes along had some good chases eighties early ninties we had some laughs even now i get alaugh giving them it tite some times , Seems to me the hunting fraternity frowns on poaching these days is just me or is that the case? I've said it before on here.....lamping wouldn't bother me but the lamping without asking would. Lets face it i've no idea what your lamping so it could be a bit expected if i was a bit miffed when approaching anyone. I suppose it would be like me getting a torch and walking about your back garden at night, you'd want to kill me for "trying to steal your dogs" but really i was just there for a walk..... scothunter 12,609 Posted January 21, 2011 Report Share Posted January 21, 2011 guess a liot has to do with the attitude of the keeper,and also the person who really ought not be there.worked the doors for many years,and in most cases if you asked politely for them to leave.most did without to much fuss.however if you were a prick and came over shouting your mouth of and throwing your weight around.Well of course your going to get the same back.which always led to digs being thrown.as i said earlier most timeswhen i participated in poaching.the keepers never knew we were there. A KEEPER AND FARMER AND A POLIS DOG VAN TRIED TO CATCH US BUT WEE MANAGED TO REACH THE TOP OF A MASSIVE FIELD .THE 3 PERSUARS WERE AT THE BOTTOM .THE POLIS DOG HANDLER GOT THE G/S OUT THE VAN AND SHOUTED STOP OR ILL RELEASE THE DOG.WHICH MY FREIND SHOUTED BACK RELEASE THE DOG AND YOULL GET IT BACK IN A EFING BAG AND HE WAS GOING TO SLIPP THE DEERHOUNDS ON HIS G/S. POLIS THOUGHT FOR A SECOND AND DECIDED NO TO BOTHER.MANAGED TO BOLT. 1 Quote Link to post
