Kay 3,709
'polecat29' timestamp='1297546560' post='1925117'] could be botulism [food poisoning} mate Thats the first thing that runs threw your head when the ferret take ill .But with such small animals anything that affects them can quickly drag them down and the owner has to be on the balls as often it can kill them with in hours .And as said theres very few vets that can get it right with ferrets cheers for your thoughts - good news - spent the night regularly feeding my 'bear' water from a dropper every hour or so and a couple of times he licked honey off a spoon - today he's still here, quite wobbly but much better than he was yesterday. so relieved but still keeping a close eye on him. xx I would look into Insulinoma in Ferrets .. Quote Link to post

hilly 6
Very sorry to hear of your loss, sounds like you did all you could. I have two Jill's and one hob all together what do you guys think is best to avoid botulism? Freeze all food before its given etc, and does anyone have any tips to help to avoid most illnesses? When out with them and I get some Rabbits in the net I give them the fresh livers and hearts, should I stop this? Quote Link to post
