zini 1,939
Hi lads, Here is some of the scope camera shooting (not all) that I have been doing over the past few days put together for you in this little clip. I hope that the newer shooters that have been asking about lamping, the use of NV equipment and bunny shooting find this interesting as well as the experienced regulars a like. You will see bunnies being shot at various ranges and in some cases my rifle mounted laser used as a range finder before a particular shot. Each shot has its own point of aim (POA) on the mildots in regards to the bunnys brain and range, as thats how I shoot and find it to be the most accurate way to humanely kill my quarry. If you use this technique and learn it well instead of always using a cross hair as an aiming device / point you will greatly improve your success rate when hunting plus make taking longer range shots much easier. You will see some hold under and some very slight hold over as the .177 pellet doesnt have much of a parabolic trajectory to the ranges that I was shooting due to my point blank range (PBR) being pretty big in this calibre hence making it ideal for night time rabbit shooting and HFT comps alike. With a lighter pellet my PBR would be even bigger making it even better for long range shots without much hold over. Most of the shots though are taken on x 4 magnification due to it being the best light gathering quality magnification through the scope camera. Normally without a scope camera fitted I shoot at night on x 6 mag. Where applicable the cross hair is used on the rabbits brain as a POA with no hold over or under as I was doing a lot of static hunting at a desired range of 30 metres which is my .177 zero range. I think that this is a good demo of scope camera shooting and the use of a laser for newer shooters to our section. This footage is only uploaded to YouTube on IPOD quality at 65.1 MB so isnt brilliant, but the proper footage that will be going on the DVD is 739 MB so in HD quality near on. Please feel free to leave your comments, either positive or negative. Enjoy Si. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZwSOlzTvR8 Edited January 19, 2011 by zini Quote Link to post

rossi_j 99
Some great shooting there si, I dont know why but I always imagined the lazer to be a small dot, is it large only with n.v as the light has been intensified or is that how they are allways? Do you notice reactions from lazerd rabbits I could see from that video those rabbits did not notice, is this allways the case? Obviously you dont go shining it in there eyes but you know what I mean .atb. .ste. Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Thanks for the comments guys. Hi Ste, The laser is actually pretty small in size, but due to me zooming in some what for each shot it makes it look bigger. Look at again in relation to the cross hair size and not the bunny, that’s where it becomes important buddy. Ill try to get some more footage tonight of it without such a big zoom in. I don’t laser the bunnies eye buddy, I laze somewhere on its body to see the range to it. If you laze its eye it may get freighted and leg it. Si. Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Hi Dom, Yep West Down is crawling with bunnies isnt it bud, its a good permission? I only shoot at nights usually at 0001 hrs till about 0200 hrs mate when everyone is sleeping. I tried last night at 2100 hrs till 2230 hrs and there were still too many people about so the bunnies were skittish and I only got 1. Im going out tonight with the rifle again at 0001 hrs for a bash. I should get a few if its quiet. FAO Davy, We will have to make it at 0001 hrs on Friday buddy so its quiet and the bunnies are out. There are also too many tree hugger Officers about before then that will wing and get upset. I hope that this is still ok buddy. I dont want to loose the permission while Im here pal due to tree huggers. I did take 2 jackdaws through my accommodation windows today though as they were gobbing it, as loud as hell when I was trying to sleep. They are now sleeping. I got them on scope camera too at 35 metres. Si Edited January 19, 2011 by zini Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Ive re posted the video footage and brightened it up a litte lads as the poor quality of Youtube makes it a little too dark for my liking. Yep John, its just practice i think with the scope camera buddy. It also helps that i have a steady shooting hand. Si Edited January 19, 2011 by zini Quote Link to post
