Understanding What % of cross is in my Lurcher

Recommended Posts

It sounds daft but I've never totally understood how to work out what % of cross is in my Lurcher. Her mom was a bull/grey and the dad was a beddlington/whippet so how do I work it out please. Might be a simple question but can't get my head round it.

Also what would be a good dog to pair her with for some nice pups not too big and what % would the pups be?

Sorry for being thick but just need it explaining! Cheers.

depends on the % in the bull/grey and the beddlington/whippet if they where 1st cross on both sides you should have 1/4 bull 1/4 grey 1/4 beddlington 1/4 whippet could be wrong

If your bitch's parents were first crosses then she'd be 1/4 bull, 1/4 grey, 1/4 bedlington and 1/4 whippet and 1/4 = 25%.

Edited to say "you beat me to it iceman".

Haha I recon Its the first Time you have agreed on anything! Thanks for the replies and I understand it now.

Still not sure what to put her to though. Any ideas?

It actually doesn't work like that. Each pup is a different 'percentage' and even if they all look the same, there are variations in the temperament, intellect etc. Sorry guys, it is just a myth. Each time there is a cross the dog is a new animal, not a per cent of this or that...

Cheers.

Either a greyhound or whippet to level them out, greyhound for bigger size etc,
