I have just 'liked' My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding on Facebook, there is some interesting points on there, alot of the travellers on there are saying they have never heard or come across 'grabbing' and that they think some of it was done for the cameras, some are saying that it was an awful portrayal of the Gypsy community, there is also a few young girls saying they wish they were traveller girls, only to be shot down by the traveller girls lol

In the 50's lots of jews were known as thieves and pickpockets, so the jewish communities sought to clear out alot of the bad apples, jewish thieves were known to fear jewish juries for this reason. Eventually the thieves pickpockets and fagans were even run out of the country and the non-jewish communities respected them for that.

 

We hear alot about gypsy rules and laws and how they sort things within their own communities, so how come they cant clear out the people who give them a bad name????

 

Iv worked on farms, as a gamekeeper and for a land agents and Ive proberly had contact with 15 to 20 gypsy camps and I can say that problems, stealing and mess/fly tipping has surrounded 3/4's of em. Now if its only a small percentage who give everyone a bad name why not do something about it?? If you can afford a brand new pick up pulling a massive new caravan why cant you pay to dump your bussiness waste, hedge cuttings/rubble etc, at a proper dump just as every other person has to. If a small number of travellers do this why dont the majority make them clean it up??

Travellers even have councils and spokespeople, why arnt these people saying that they should take responsibility for themselves?

 

The people of Britain on the whole respect those who take responsibility and try to intigrate and earn respect (black people, jewish groups etc) but turn against those who moan and whinge and call on goverment to force people to respect them while distancing themselves from us and our ways.

 

I take everyone at face value but if I saw a traveller looking over my fence then I would double lock everything and bring the dogs indoors and until travellers themselves do something to change that attitude then so will the rest of us 'country folk'.

It is just a way to see whats going on in that group, you have to 'like' it to be able to participate in anyway, some of it on there makes interesting reading

Maybe the travelor lads are better at reading body language .. because of the distance they have to keep from the girls generally .. not like the kids i see round here who are mostly pissed on cheap cider while some chav has his hands down her knickers while she rocks the baby buggy with her foot

Yeah true, it was uncomfortable to watch but is obviously something the girls are well equipt to deal with it, she handled the situation well and didnt seem too bothered by it, who knows, she may end up marrying him, i'm sure that kind of situation happens all over the country every friday night, difference is the girls are probably pissed and the guy is seeing it as an oppotunity to take advantage, rather than impress her enough to marry him

 

I agree I think alcohol plays a massive part .. Friday nights in any town is usually full of kids falling all over the place I think theres nothing worse than seeing groups of girls laying in the gutter .. its sad

my family are from newcastle going back many years now settled in kent after coming down hop picking,it amazes me that so many people believe all travellers are thieves,yes some are and some would help folk out,i made a few quid when young scrapping some of em,i dont care much who they are i take a person as a mate if they got the same values/morals as myself.

good post mate and yeah your r1te but just out of interest would you not double lock everything even if it was a black, muslim, white, scotish or who ever looking over your fence ?? or would it just be travellers??

Good question and I had to think about it, proberly a black person and anyone else who looked dodgy or I had pre-concieved ideas about.
